I went form an ATI Radeon x1650 to an MSI N9800GT. Watched Fallout 3 set itself from the lowest possible settings to high. Now I'm removing all the old drivers for the card I no longer have, and enjoying how pretty all my games are. Plus, hopefully I can get STALKER to run for more than five minutes now.
Unfortunately there is one downside I've noticed. The built in fan on the new card is a bit louder, so I'm hearing it more. I do wish it ran quieter.
Just upgraded my graphics card
Re: Just upgraded my graphics card
How is the N9800GT in comparison to the 8800GT? As far as I know the 9800GT was a rebadged 8800GT but I'm not sure what the N is all about. Eitherway great choice of card if I'm thinking it is what i think it is. Not too expensive and it handles everything great even at stock speeds. Most people really don't need 500 dollar cards.

Re: Just upgraded my graphics card
Man, I can't wait to buy my whole setup. Gonna throw a 9800GTX+ in there. I'd say it's a decent upgrade from a Geforce 6200. Hell, my whole GPU history has been quite depressing...
Bought a brand new Geforce FX5200 waaaaay long ago
Down(up)graded to a ATi Radeon...9000, I think it was?
Got a Geforce 6200 for free.
Yeah, I cant wait to have the best box on the block.

Re: Just upgraded my graphics card
I'm still cooking my Geforce 7950GX2

I plan to be running this thing for awhile. I don't do a lot of gaming on my PC... so I don't see the need for upgrading
Though I can't figure out for the LIFE of me to use each GPU independently for two seperate displays on Linux. GRRRR, I even posted a thread on the ubuntu forums with no avail:

If any of you guys here who use Ubuntu (or any other variant of Linux) could help me... MUCH APPRECIATED!

Re: Just upgraded my graphics card
My Dell XPS has 2 BFG Nvidia GeForce 8600gt 512mb OC's with DX10 (it was the second v-card from nvidia to have DX10) upgraded from the default ATI Radeon X1300pro 128mb.
My Powerbook Rev. E has a suprisingly capable ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (yet CMR reports it as a 9600xt?) with 128mb yet I can still manage to run Doom 3 and Quake 4 with shadows on high settings as well as AoE 3 on highest settings.
My Macbook Pro had an 8600 thats was giving me so much trouble I took it in for credit at the Apple store. Which shouldnt suprise me, 8xxx series cards always get hot and that 8600 happens to be very bad heat wise.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

My 8800GT still serves me just fine. The most recent games have to be turned to medium at 1680x1050 to stay above 30fps, but that's ok. If I was still back on a smaller display, it would be running much better.
