PSA - Shinybow 6x2 SCART Switch Retiring

Post by Westane »

I'm pretty sure this is completely the wrong board to post this in, so I apologize...

I've been considering getting a Shinybow 6x2 SCART switch for a while now, and when I checked the US website today they said it's being retired and stock is limited.

I went ahead and panic purchased one, and was able to check out. If you, say, just bought a fancy new Framemeister and need a SCART switch, I thought it might be worth posting this. Again, sorry if it's out of place.

EDIT

And I just got notified my order was canceled... so... damn. If a mod sees this post, go ahead and delete it while I cry in the corner.

Damn.

I had to pay ~$400 shipped for a second Keene SCART Commander from France.

Are there any good SCART switches aside from the HAMA wedge that are still somewhat available?

Well one option is the Shinybow 4x2 switch for a mere $130 + shipping... Would kill for a Keene Scart Commander or two. I am jelly :) Would also take a Bandridge 5 port.

I'm currently using the Hama AV-100S and it works perfectly fine, I just need more SCART ports now. It's still purchasable on Amazon.

Fun fact, you can (with some secret ninja arts) get all three buttons pushed in simultaneously and have a pseudo-auto scart switch. No quality loss!

The best thing ever would be one of these 8x1 switches...

but I doubt I'll ever get my hands on one.

Anyway, I guess I'll buy a second one and daisy chain them. That'll give me 5 ports which is exactly what I need...

I ran 2 Hama switches chained for many years and had no issues. Neat trick BTW, I had no idea.
I just had a great need to run all the hardware from a harmony remote . After adding in more switches, receivers scalers and displays I got really confused. Playing a game required a flowchart for reference on what buttons to press and even playing Nintendo got really complicated...

Try contacting Shinybow USA. They might be willing to import one for you.
