Somehow I don't think that individual is suited to retail. I thought the point was to sell things.

I like guide books, too. I don't pay much for them, but big, full-color guides are pretty sweet. I used to check constantly for when they'd penny out the guides, and got a ton that way. Really good ones, too, for lots of the PS2 RPGs! Then I got less free time, or stopped caring, or probably both. Plus, storing those guides gets to be a pain. I should probably sell a few eventually.

I finally got a Power Up card! I didn't know there was a free version. Thought you had to pay $14 for the magazine subscription or whatever.

I haven't paid for my mag/card sub in probably 3 years now. There is a coupon that costs about 15,000* Power up points that gives you a free renewal and I usually get that many points just from buying cheap games there each year. Plus you still get the Buy 2 Get 1 free coupon from renewing that way as well so it's a pretty decent deal.

Edit: It's actually 15,000 points.

Is it odd that I enjoy Game Informer just because it's in print form?

It bugs me how every time I renew they try to talk me into going Digital which technically I believe you still get access to even if you go with the print copy.

When I was in store the other day I overheard them telling a customer that if they chose physical over digital their magazine sub might be delayed 2-3 months  . Wouldn't affect me since cashiers were bugging me to renew months early anyways, but that sounds kind of like BS unless they are really cutting back on physical and don't really give a shit about the customers.

Only problem I have is the girl who renewed my subscription didn't give me a new sticker for my card and told me to hold onto the reciept in order to get it once mine ran out. Lost the reciept ages ago, but I figure they should be able to see the account is active and give me a new one anyways.

Renewal with your earned points is a ripoff, so many take that convenience bait without realizing the 3,000 point markup. Currently a used game coupon for 12,000 points is worth $15.00 game purchase! Best to just redeem the points on ANY used game. :?

Basically 1,000 points= $1 is how I have always viewed it.

I don't really see the renewal coupon being a rip off. I got 12 months worth of gameinformer mags, a Power Up Pro Card good for %10 off all used purchases, access to a few exclusive pro deals each month, and a Buy 2 Get 1 Free coupon which I picked up a free $18 game last time I was in there.

Yeah to be honest the $15 or whatever it is, is worth it. I pay for it every year and that b2g1 is nice plus I kinda enjoy what of GI is not FPS, horror or sports games(which never fail to be overpentiful).

Agree for anyone buying a lot of games at Gamestop, the power card a good deal. I prefer the Magazine Paper copy for an easier read while kicked back taking a break from PC or Console.

Really, pay the renewal by cash and save the points for used games which give a better return per 1,000 points.

15,000 = $15.00 Gamestop Renewal
12,000 = $15.00 Used Game
---------------------------------------------------
3,000 Points Difference
