Any other Rubiks Cube nuts here?
I might have asked this before, I really don't remember.
But is anyone else here a rubiks cube nut? I got my first cube last January (of 2008) and loved it. I have all sizes and shapes now.
Anyone else like 'em, hate em, etc?

I've had a cube for at least fifteen years now. Hasn't been solved since I took it out of the box. :/

I've played with them on and off. Never managed to solve one side. I usually get pissed off and then make racist remarks about asians.
Re: Any other Rubiks Cube nuts here?
Back in junior high me and a few other friends were really into it. We painted nail polish over the faces so the stickers wouldn't rub off and oil the thing so that it would turn smoother. We'd spend most of class just shuffing and solving cubes over and over. Then I stopped doing it and now I've forgotton my end moves. I can get face, two layers, and the four corners of the bottom in the right spot but I don't remember all of the moves for shuffling the for edge pieces of the bottom.

I've heard it does, i know someone who got 6 colors of nail polish, and someone else that used clear nail polish over the stickers. I replace my stickers with vinyl ones from cubesmith.com, it takes a while, but they last forever compaired to the stock ones.
I've got all the "standard" sized cubes (3x3, 4x4, 5x5), a 3x3 "supercube" (image on the sides, so the centers have to be oriented), a homemade siamese cube, and sadly someone f*#&in stole my braille cube.
as far as solving, I've been at it off and on for roughly 10 years. I solve the normal 3x3x3 in about 30 to 40 seconds average (best average of 10 was under 30 seconds but i'm just not that good consistently anymore). The 4x4 takes me under 2 min's, and the 5x5 a lackluster 7 or 8 minutes.

Haha, thats impressive, My record for the 3x3x3 is 40 secondsish, 4x4x4 15 minutes, and 5x5x5 about 7 or 8, The parity on the 4x4x4 is killer
Oh and I once solved a 2x2x2 in 1.4 seconds, I got lucky haha

the 2x2x2 is actually harder than you'd think. I've never seen one solved without the person being shown how.
at first i thought you were talking about the siamese cube i mentioned - they're a bit more difficult since you can only operate 2 of 3 axis, it takes me about a minute per cube. There are two siamese cubes in this old picture of mine, the one in the upper right i don't have anymore but it solves almost the same as the other siamese cube, just 4 more pieces to put in place.
