Dave and Hobie are being distracted by real life. AppleQ seems to have left after a thread that happened in Games as Culture that royally pissed her off. She made a "fuck this I'm out" post and hasn't posted since.
I don't expect Apple to be back. I had some PMs with her after that "I'm out" post and my sense is that she feels that much of the culture around the hobby is just not a positive force in her life, and that unfortunately too often that culture intrudes on even this little conclave. I can't say I disagree with her, and I think she's making the right decision.

I should check in with Hobie. I didn't know he had some IRL stuff going on and if I were paying a bit more attention to the forums I may have noticed his prolonged absence. I certainly hope he's doing ok.

I feel like, at least in the last week, I have tried to get a bit more active here. In the last few days stuff IRL has been intensifying around me in ways that are very dramatic and occasionally tough to cope with and move through, but I have a good support network and have encountered a few objective third parties that have only offered confirmation of the decisions I have made and the revelations I have come to. I'm getting to understand some things about myself and my heart and my relationships in ways I never have before, and I think all of that is really for the greater good for those I care about and for myself, even if it can be hard to see in moments of doubt.

That sucks about AQ, but whatever is best, obviously. Good to hear your changes are mostly positive Dave, even if they are difficult. I might have missed your postings in other areas besides "general" and "B/S/T". I'm glad to hear you are still around though. Even happier to hear that your ongoing changes have been mostly positive. There are a couple other members who have slowed down considerably, but I still see some sporadic activity. I was just hoping the three of you hadn't left. Not that I wouldn't be able to understand why, I've had "IRL" stuff keep me away for a year or more. Thanks for chiming in my friend, good to hear from you.

Yeah, gaming culture is just not very welcoming to some groups, and as much as we try to buck that trend, we are a community of gamers, and so all to often, even in the minority, we reflect the larger community. Sometimes we overcome it, but for some folks, even that might not be enough.

Real talk: I wish everyone the best, but I don't know any of you so I could care less. All of you could be creepy perverts for all I know. Again, I wish everyone the best and a happy life, but even with my best friends I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. And you guys know about 1% about me as well.

Moving on.

I really enjoy watching the Nostalgia Critic. He always seems to be fair to what he reviews, and although his reviews can get really silly, he always seems to tie everything quite well at the end. He certainly understands the vocabulary of film as well the components of making a film.

I haven't watched all of his reviews but the ones I have watched have always included one "pro" to a terrible movie. Personally, I admire that. Not everything is a "shit load of fuck", as he reaches for at least one silver lining.

One other random thought: I love chewing gum. Even that nasty kind that has some sort of juice in the middle. Big league chew is my fave, but I won't turn down gum. Even from Pee-Wee.

I mean...I could care more...er...ahh..

You got me there.

Crap. I hate when I type things I hate that other people type. It's like when you send an email talking up an attachment, and forget to add the attachment (we've all done it).

I do it all the time. It usually gets quoted before I can edit it. My autocorrect has a bad habit of making me look stupid. Like with the switched up there/their the other day.

I was just giving you shit. As Brodie would say.

For the record, Apple had admitted she wasn't playing games much anymore anyway, so I figured it was probably just a matter of time before she moved on entirely. We all wish her the best though and hope she is doing well.

Agreed! ... On the basis of including the best-ever cover of Hazy Shade of Winter.

One of these days I'll get around to reading Imperial Bedrooms, but ATM it's a fair number of entries down the list.
