I recently watched poltergeist for the first time, and i must say, that held up pretty well. I loved it.
At some point I'm gonna have to find time to watch the sequels.

I'll say I think Fury Road was good in 3D, although I also think I might have missed some things by focusing on one area of the scene to get the 3D moments while small details were on other parts of the screen. That might just be my imagination though. I will say that, for me, it added to the speed and movement of the film being in 3D.

I saw Fury Road last night and completely loved it. I opted for 2D because the movie was shot in 2D. The post-processing conversion to 3D is something I normally think looks kind of hokey and definitely not worth the extra cost. If a movie I want to see was shot in 3D I'll make a point of trying to see it that way though.

Yeah, that argument doesn't hold much water these days. Guardians of the Galaxy was post conversion and most people agree it had an excellent 3d presentation that they put a lot of effort into. James Gunn made it clear that he wasn't half assing it.
Gravity was made for 3D viewing and is technically a post conversion job as well.

3D wasn't bad I didn't get overly focused on things so it didn't pull me out of the movie aside from the one scene where the guitar pops out at you
. Pretty decent film definitely a nice entry in the series. Didn't realize Nicholas Hoult was in this movie Nux was probably my favorite character.
The 3d trailer for Ant-man looked amazing and I'm excited for it now. Hadn't seen this one yet and it explained a lot about his abilities and showed off some really nice action scenes. Plus it featured a freaking hilarious Thomas the Train moment

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I didn't think the 3D added anything to Fury Road, and in retrospect I wish I had seen it in 2D. It is only in an exceptional case that I think 3D actually adds anything of value, and often staging shots for 3D otherwise detracts from the cinematography. 3D is a gimmick.

Yeah I would have rather seen it in 2d if for nothing else to save a few bucks even with matinee prices it was around $10.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I want to see Mad Max but no one I know personally in real life has any interest in seeing it other than me. None of my immediate family or friends. And since I refuse to go to the movies alone (I don't like being that guy), guess I'll have to wait until this gets released on Blu-ray or Netflix.
It better live up to the hype you guys have set. Or I will snootily rip it to shreds as only my French-German hybrid DNA can critically do.

What's wrong with going to the movies alone? You get to see something on a hugeass screen with a loud sound system and maybe a big tub of something to munch on.

I don't think it is weird. It has always been my preference to bring someone though. Usually because we would make a night of it and follow with dinner or something, which does feel a bit strange if you are "that guy".MrPopo wrote:What's wrong with going to the movies alone?
