Just FYI for anyone who's been thinking of getting a 360 or PS3 lately.
Went with a buddy to Circuit City today and -- at least at this particular store -- the 20 percent off applied to hardware as well as games. The 360 arcade SKU can be had for $159, which is what my friend got. Very hard to beat a deal like that. The 80GB PS3s, which have software BC, were going for $319.

Circuit City's sale's been going on for a few weeks now. I picked up Portal for a dollar, special editions of Fallout 3 and Soul Calibur 4, and some new RAM.

They wouldn't have the new Jasper 360s though, would they? Maybe I'll browse a CC soon.
Re: Circuit City console deals
I didn't realize they had increased the discounts. I'm going to go out there tomorow, I've been wanting a 360.

Re: Circuit City console deals
The one near me is full of fake sales (regularly priced items with "sale" printed on the tag) and hand written price tags.
Going out of business sale my ass.

Jaspers are supposed to make less heat and thus be less likely to RROD.
I checked the CC here and the only deal I got was Prince of Persia PS3 for $38. EVERY console had long been sold, which sucked cuz I was hoping to get a PSP. (Same with routers, decent HDTVs, ink carts and practically ANYTHING else of value.)
The CC here is 8 days away from closing, and just going in there you can feel the vibe of soul crushing as all the employees just don't give a crap anymore and have to search for a new job is this great employment environment, and the general feeling of emptiness due to the entire store being empty space. What's worse, I hear that the CC location is going to be turned into a church... we've already got a street close by actually named "Church Street", and for good reason. Why couldn't they put a Fry's there?
The strangest thing? The discounts are now at 30% off everything, and STILL I can find better deals at Best Buy, Radio Shack and other retailers. It's kind of sad to see the 2nd largest electronics retailer bite the dust, but with pricing schemes like this, it's not surprising.

Yes - be wary of most of the "deals" at CC right now. The way liquidation works, from my understanding, is that you mark everything up and then "discount" it all with big signs so the average knuckle-dragger will come in and slobber all over your deals and buy stuff. Most of it can be had at BB for the same price, as the7k said.
HOWEVER, console hardware is like the iPod -- it's always the same price, all the time, at every store. They never go on sale, only get price drops from the platform holder. BUT I'm telling you that CC is discounting them right now, so if you're interested in a 360 especially, now's the time to go at least check to see if they had them in stock. In my store, we almost walked out because the aisle was empty but we spotted a pretty big stack of Arcade and Pro 360s, and 80GB PS3s behind the customer service counter. Your store might not have them but it's worth a look if you like tha dealz.
And yes, the Arcade SKU my buddy bought was indeed a Jasper board. Just check by the serial number though the hole in the box and look for the power rating of 12,1A. That's a Jasper.
