I understood. It's an Italian Rambo trilogy. I know bad Italian films. I'm an MST3K fan.Ack wrote: I'm glad to say I sat through it, even if nobody else will have any idea what the hell it is I'm talking about. That's ok, they usually don't.
What was the last movie you've seen?

I'm really interested to see what all gets covered in my Italian Cinema class this fall. I don't know if I'm going to get high-brow, best of the best stuff almost exclusively, or if I'm getting the schlock too. Its been stated that Giallo and Spaghetti Westerns are covered, so I at least know I'm getting some stuff I already like.

Hopefully you get the Steve Reeves Hercules movie. That's some quality stuff.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm really interested to see what all gets covered in my Italian Cinema class this fall. I have no opinions on the Point Break remake, or even on the original. So don't try to rope me into this.MrPopo wrote:So... apparently Point Break remake is a thing.
Can we get REPO into NY and making movies already so he can kill off terrible shit like this?
Some people already question my judgement after pointing out that I was looking forward to the Jem film in October and that we shouldn't throw shade at it until after we see it. And I am proud that I am smart enough to give the film a chance before I call it shit. Either way it'll be better than the last film I saw in theatres, which was The Lorax. Just kidding, The Lorax is a movie, not a film. And yes, there's a difference.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
See if you can get any of the Poliziotteschi films, like Live Like a Cop, Die Like a Man, Mark of the Cop, Free Hand for a Tough Cop, Rome Armed to the Teeth, or Shoot First, Die Later.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I'm really interested to see what all gets covered in my Italian Cinema class this fall. And every day, demand a Sartana film. Something like I Am Sartana, Trade Your Guns for a Coffin.
In fact, I hope most of what you watch is schlock. Like Lucio Fulci, Bruno Mattei, Sergio Martino, Ruggero Deodato schlock.
Thank God for Italy.

Fine, so nobody watched Under the Skin

Vanya on 42nd Street
I liked My Dinner with Andre quite a bit, but this play rehearsal movie just didn't click with me despite its promising start.

My second girlfriend ever was named Vickie Bailey. I was in the third grade and she was my first lip on lip kiss. Why am I typing this? Because she wore an over sized pink sweatshirt with Fievel on it and I remember it like it just happened.darsparx wrote:American Tail - still as good as I remembered...
Okay, so...
LADYBIRD LADYBIRD
This film really kicked me in the gut. It shouldn't have as the lead character makes terrible decisions, but you want to root for her. I don't want to give anything away, but if you enjoy dramas and have not seen this, make seeing it a priority. Be prepared to get mad at society and the lead.

Witness for the Prosecution
Yep, watched a good movie again. Witness for the Prosecution is based on a short story by Agatha Christie and focuses on Sir Wilfred Robarts, Q.C., defending Leonard Vole against a murder charge in the British court system. The film is quite good, for its acting(including Charles Laughton, Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich, and even Elsa Lanchester, the Bride of Frankenstein), its incredible plot and well done ending, and its inside look at the British court system. As an American, it's fascinating to see how much the British courts differ from our own and how similar they are at the same time.
If you like courtroom dramas, I suggest you look into this one, but do not look up the storyline! The final five minutes completely change the entire film; it's the kind of thing that makes M. Night Shyamalan weep with joy. In fact, the postscript for the film even specifically asks the audience not to reveal the ending.
For those of you who appreciate excellent cinema, this is one I highly recommend.

Oh, on a personal note, I rate every film I watch in completion on IMDB, since it is one of the most complete databases on film and serves as a way to try and keep track of every movie I have ever watched. Witness for the Prosecution was the 1900th film I've rated. My girlfriend wants to see if I can reach 2000 by the end of the year.
