Wiping them down helped out a lot, but it still has a pretty bad smell to it will give the baking soda a go. I really hope whoever turned these in didn't have kids because if the cables smell this bad I don't know how they could even breath in their house :P. If I had opened this up in store it would have smelled up the whole place  .

So I figure I'd have a "fun" story to tell with Gamestop today. Since I am doing a marathon of Detective Conan, I've been using my Xbox 360 to play the DVDs with since my PS3 gets super hot (due to it being the fat one) to the point that my room becomes hot. So I decided to buy a Xbox 360 Remote because the controller keeps turning off. Anyway, I go to my local mom & pop game store but see that they are out of business (later on I ran into the old manager near the place since they were still cleaning it out and he said the owner shut it down because the rent doubled) so I went to Gamestop to see if they had one.

By complete luck I found a used one but while I was there I found the Tales of Xillia 2 guide book (it had a DLC code for a theme plus I liked guide books for RPGs) and an old Skyward Sword limited edition guide book. So I go to check out and the guy I was with was nice, nothing special but what you see at a normal store. So as he is checking me out, another employee was next to him playing with her phone, saw that I had picked out the guide book and asked, "Why are you buying those?" I said to her that I like Guide Books and she said "You can get that information for free, there is no reason for the books" then told the guy to get rid of them since I was throwing money away.

I said that I wanted them, the guy pretended that she didn't exist at first since that appeared to be all for her but I could tell that he was getting upset with her. When I was paying for the books, she took the books and was walking into the back still saying that I was wasting my money. This was when I was paying for them. I tired to stop her until the guy pulled them out from her hands, gave me the books to hold onto then pushed her away. She was starting to scream how I shouldn't be wasting money when the manager came into out of the back room and yelled for her to go into the back. The casher had a surprised look on his face with what happened, said sorry about all of that but I said no worries and after that I kinda wanted to get out of there as soon as I could.

Probably a good idea to invest in a DVD player to save on the wear and and total runtime mileage of your game consoles.

my Wii(s), 360 and PS3 probably haven't been used for anything other than watching DVD's and streaming Netflix in like 2 years.

Sounds less like arrogance and more like some form of autism.

I don't think she got fired since I have seen her before. I have stopped going to that Gamestop not just because of her but the place in general. One time try tired to sneak on a pre-order of Density for PS4 because I was picking up Tales of Hearts R (and I couldn't get it anywhere else). The only reason I caught it was due to the fact I had already paid in full for the pre-order months ago.

I don't really have room for a DVD player and typically I don't watch DVDs. This is one of the rare exceptions.

My ps2 was my DVD player for around 5 or 6 years... then Netflix turned the Wii into a streaming box.

Wow Ive never heard of an employee doing that, she must have some mental disability for real. There's no way that was a one time thing if you had seen her there before and the way the other employee seems to have reacted to her wasn't in surprise either.

So what if you can get it online, usually it's an annoying video with rambling in it or a black and white guide wall of text which is equally unhelpful at times. Guides are great for the maps, lists of goodies far easier to locate, and other little things. I wouldn't blame anyone ever buying a guide for an RPG or a zelda like adventure either as there's so much bloat these days stuff is easy to miss. It's bugging me there's no Xenoblade guide out for 3DS/Wii as that game is massive.

I'm not surprised the store would try and slip a fast one by anyone with a preorder since they dog the employees further employment over such stuff, but to just do it without asking is sleazy.
