Just got an XRGB-mini need a little help.
wondering if anyone knew a good guide on the net on how to use your mini, like how to update the firmware so the menus are in english and what all the buttons do.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Re: Just got an XRGB-mini need a little help.
thanks for all that I have the menu in english now and I now know what all the buttons do. I only have a few issues, when playing castlevania SOTN on the saturn when I press the menu button the xrgb seems to lose signal for a few seconds and the menu loading in the game is bad enough. Also how do I get rid of the overscan areas when playing the NES?

The XRGB has to resync when a game changes from 240p to 480i. I don't think SOTN does that on the PSX, but maybe the Saturn version does? It's an HDMI handshake issue.ninjainspandex wrote:thanks for all that I have the menu in english now and I now know what all the buttons do. No way to get rid of the overscan areas unless you feed the thing into another scaler that can manually adjust the screen.

Re: Just got an XRGB-mini need a little help.
guys little help on the xrgb-mini needed. i am trying to upgrade the firmware to the latest. im currently on 1.08. i have followed the guidelines but still it doesnt upgrade here's what i did so far:
using 8GB class6 microSD.
copied the xrgbmini folder itself (containing subfolders) to the root of the microsd.
powerd off the xrgb
inserted microsd
power on xrgb
all i get is 1 solid green light and 1 solid red light. nothing blinking. left almost half an hour at most, nothing happening.
tried using, from one of the following links:
http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/XRGBminiV2.00E.zip
http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/XRGBminiV2.00J.zip
and even.
http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/XRGBminiV1.11E.zip
have tried formatting microsd using Fat32, ntfs, both same result anyway,
tried allocation unit size 4k and 32k. still doesnt want.
tried putting the subfolders in the root for the heck of it, still doesnt want.
no idea what to do now. if this is too much, is there a way using USB ?
i've seen alot of people not having problems with this so i dont know whats so different in my case. is there something i should do first in the xrgb settings? should i upgrade to a specific version first before i can get to the latest?
i believe there is a 1.10 and 1.11 but i cannot find them on http://www.micomsoft.co.jp/xrgb-mini_download_old.htm

Re: Just got an XRGB-mini need a little help.
These power steps are backwards. The update steps are at the bottom here (with ver1.11 just above) but what you want to do is power on the XRGB. Go into [Menu] > [Options] > [Power] and change this option to [Standby]. Next, insert the SD card with the firmware you want to update to. The XRGB folder should be on the root, with the sub-folders inside that. Next, you want to power off the XRGB. Initially the red light should light up, with the two green lights next to it flashing in an alternating pattern. It should change over to a pattern that scrolls through the green lights from left to right. Once the update has finished, the red light should be blinking softly. At that point you want to remove the update files from the SD card, because they can't be used again. These directions also differ from how XRGB units that predate the mini were updated.arcadifvid wrote:powerd off the xrgb

You can use the USB port on the XRGB mini, but it just uses the mini as a card reader for setups that lack other methods of transferring the update files to a microSD card. As far as versions, the ver 1.11 update on that main page is essentially ver 1.10. 1.11 on its own only fixes an issue with Classic Mode activating on its own when powering the mini on, and a setting for KOR language support, that didn't have the fonts for full support anyway.
Also, keep in mind that ver2.0 is still in Beta.

awwwrright! pierrot's advise worked! although i actually had to try it twice. but at least it worked. thanks pierrot!
also ..damn that microsd card slot, one of my attempts made the card stuck, and had difficulty wiggling it out. imagine if that thing got really stuck, the thing wont be usable since its always that 1 green light and 1 red light
