I think the big thing that bogs down Tomorrowland is the need to set up George Clooney's character. I think they could have cut out basically all of that part and just started with Casey's story. That would have let them expand on her and you still get the important stuff from Clooney when he explains things to Casey. You even get the full view of Tomorrowland with the pin, so that part isn't lost either. It would have helped the pacing.

Clooney's character could have been introduced with a few sentences of well written exposition, so I'm totally on board with what you typed.

Shocked that this didn't beat out Pitch Perfect 2 at the box office. I expected Tomorrowland to knock it out of the park. Score another one for fat jokes.

Good suggestions, but I've seen everything besides Willow or Stardus. Its what I was afraid of, there just aren't that many of these types of movies. And the kide oriented stuff is fine, but not really my cup of tea.

If you haven't watched them already, some of that seems to have lent itself more to genre TV in more recent decades. Netflix does have Hercules and Xena, and the Merlin TV series. Hulu has Legend of the Seeker, which is/was the Sword of Truth TV show.

There are also a fair number of anime that might at least partly qualify. I don't see anyone streaming Berserk, offhand, but Claymore would be along much the same lines and Hulu has that via Funimation - they also have a good bit, if not all of the Slayers shows.

It goes without saying HBO really has the top candidate in this genre

I'll vouch for OUAT(simply because I've yet to be disappointed save for a episode here and there and it's like a long movie thankfully split up)...GoT I really need to watch eventually(hbo now is starting to seem interesting but a third streaming tv sub *sigh* )

It's on netflix and is pure amazing. Seems though it is another movie(like "Hocus Pocus") that disney made but was underrated at the time but has gained a cult following(at least from what I've seen online now). Too bad this was never the trilogy it was meant to be...

I watched the new Mad Max film and could not enjoy it for a single second. Why you may ask? Well, the film was sped up... or at least, I hope it was sped up to around 1.25x speed, because seriously, things were making zero sense. For those that have seen the film, I am going to ask some questions in spoiler tags here to see if you saw or experienced the same thing as I did.

In the opening sequence with Max being captured and his attempt at escaping, was that sequence moving a LOT faster than the trailer's portrayal of it? In the scene where max is trying to file off the muzzle, was his hand a blur moving incredibly fast? Could you understand what anyone said during the film?

I seriously felt like in the action sequences that things were going so fast to the point where it made no sense. You would see something zoom up to the camera and then explode and you were left scratching your head. I complained at the ticket office and wanted a refund, but they said it was at the normal speed and wouldn't give me a refund. I thought I was going crazy. I was seeing the pennants on all the cars going insanely fast, even when motionless, saw the clouds and sand just going ballistic in moments where they shouldn't have, saw the slow motion scenes as moving almost at a normal speed. If it was supposed to be like that...whatever.

Yeah, as isiolia mentioned, you might have better luck in the TV department rather than movies when it comes to what you're looking for. Everyone made some pretty good suggestions, but most good fantasy movies are pretty well known. For instance, the Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings trilogy fits your requirements, but I'm assuming you've already seen those, or are at least familiar with them (and other recent releases, so I won't mention those.)

But for the hell of it I'll throw out a couple more that come to mind even though I'm sure you've seen most of them.

Black Orpheus - This one is a bit tricky. It's a retelling of the Greek tale of 'Orpheus and Eurydice', except it's set in 1950's Rio de Janeiro with an all black cast. Orpheus falls in love with Eurydice, but her ex-lover, dressed as the Angel of Death shows up and kills Eurydice, so Orpheus enters "Hell" (AKA: the morgue) and uses supernatural methods to revive her. It may be too arty and music oriented for you, but it's late and I'm running out of ideas
