I loved this moment:mjmjr25 wrote:Finished Sons of Anarchy tonight; last season was brutal. Last episode was brilliant. Kurt Sutter has made 2 of the top 10 shows i've ever seen. I'm just sort of shaking from the last episode - so many emotions. The last song during the last scene was so well done; so powerful.
Kurt's music choices are always spot on and so well done. Coal War to start season 4 I thought couldn't be topped. But, Come Join the Murder for that last scene was just beyond brilliance.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

^ It doesn't. She's a savior. That's it. It's the hamfists of all hamfists, and the cloak, the wine and bread pretty much ruin a finale to which was what a great show.
And holy cow! Is the leader of the Mayan's the same dude from AIRBORNE!?! I think he was!

She leaves a blanket, wine, and bread...which happen to turn up at the scene of death.
So before you roll your eyes make a point or ask a question,

Game of Thrones has been pretty dull this season. Kind of expected it but the scenes in Dorne are dreadful, even with added Bronn. I think the show is close to pushing some characters too far away from the books now. Littlefinger went from "cunning and ambitious" to"making this shit up as I go along". Ramsay needs to die soon as well, not because I dislike him (everyone does) but because he's now just a cartoon villain and not really a major part of the unfolding events anyway.

My wife have been watching the new Doctor Who series, and we recently finished the third season. The last five episodes:
Human Nature;
Family of Blood;
Blink;
Utopia;
The Sound of Drums; and
The Last of the Time Lords
were all amazing, and (to me at least), I think they are the best run the Doctor has had since Tom Baker's first and second seasons.

Which is the new Dr. Who?
Is Chris Ecclestons one season considered the start of "new" Dr. Who, or is there another "new" after that?

Yes. It was the start of the modern series. (The old series had Patrick Troughton, John Pertwee, Tom Baker, etc. in the lead roles.)mjmjr25 wrote:Is Chris Ecclestons one season considered the start of "new" Dr. Who, or is there another "new" after that?

I could not, absolutely could not get into Eccleston or Tennant, and I tried. It didn't help that I can't stand Billie Piper. What finally got me to give the show another chance was seeing some Capaldi episodes over Christmas. So I decided to see if my wife would be willing to watch the very last Tennant episode with me so we could start watching with Matt Smith. Did not regret it (except having to sit through Tennant). Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have been a delight and now I'm OK with the series.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Yes. It was the start of the modern series. I do miss Tom Baker, though... I always thought it was great that Puddleglum had a Tardis.

I'm a modern Who fan. Tenant is my favorite, but Smith had a good run with a few classic, stand out episodes like The Doctor's Wife and The Girl Who Waited. I haven't really seen much of Capaldi's run yet, but I love Clara so I look forward to seeing more episodes. One character I have never liked in this new Who series is River Song, but whatever, you learn to tolerate her existence
I really want to see this again in 3-D:

It's a shame I didn't have the opportunity to see it in theaters.
Fans of new Who should check out Torchwood, if for no other reason than season 3 (titled Children of Earth). Regardless of how you feel about any other season or episodes of the show, that season alone justified the show's existence.
