What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

This comes across as you just thinking very little of men.
Also, Fury Road was absolutely awesome.
In the context of the film, there aren't a lot of men to look up to, quite frankly.
Yes, yes it was...

In the context of the film, there aren't many people to look up to, period.

The same expressions or ideas don't necessarily take the same time or syllables to say in English (or whatever) as they did in the original language. So if a dub is trying to match that, the script can get distorted.

I was surprised that in Europe they get dubbed version of all the movies AFAIK. So Lion King is probably called something different in France and the script is different too. Foreign films in my country are subbed only and they give a translation of the movie's title beneath the poster.

I'm not as sure how it works with bigger Hollywood movies like that, since a good number of those are made with international distribution in mind. Disney would have done in-house dubbing for it (like they demonstrate here, for the 25 different languages Let it Go was recorded in).

Presumably, there's greater creative control. Or the product is just created to not be difficult to translate to start with - a big reason why Hollywood cranks out so many big dumb action movies.

Obviously not, you aren't a saint.

I'm reading a lot of write ups, reviews, and such of Fury Road. Most of them are good from what I've read (although I still argue with the push of the feminist angle- Mad Max movies have generally had well represented females as far as all that goes, and a lot of the push for freedom and "We are not objects" pushes far and beyond just the women.) I do see some stuff that is completely missing the point though. And the never ending stream of stuff saying it ripped off Borderlands or Fallout... if these people really are the apocalypse loving nerds they say they are, they would know that it is the exact opposite issue.

Yep, they'd know Borderlands and Fallout ripped off A Boy and His Dog!

The specific things I was thinking about were talks of how the cars ripped off Borderlands, an argument one cannot make, and that the "lone wanderer in the wastes" and leather jacket deal were ripped from Fallout, which again, can't be argued. The leather armor in the Fallout games are the same as the jacket in Mad Max 2. The lone wanderer thing can definitely be attributed to A Boy and His Dog though.
