consolized MVS question
consolized MVS question
Ive been considering buying a consolized MVS from neotropolis.net for a while now. however, I do not really want to spend the money on a 'console' that will limit me. Obviously on an MVS i will be able to play mvs carts but i would also really like to play non MVS pcbs. ive sent an email to neotropolis regarding whether or not i would be able to do so and have yet to recieve an answer and after scouring the forums here for information I am still uncertain. so can anyone help me out? should i be able to play non MVS pcbs on a consolized MVS?
Re: consolized MVS question
What you want is a Supergun, it lets you plug in just about any pcb. You just need some extra stuff for certain kinds of boards. I'm sure there's someone else around here who knows way more about it than I do that could help you.
Re: consolized MVS question
It depends by non-mvs pcbs you mean.
If you mean other JAMMA arcade games then no. That would be silly. Where would they fit?
If you mean AES carts, there's no point. Since MVS versions of all the games on AES are available and much much cheaper. IF you want to be able to play them with the 'Home' modes available like sound tests then you can install a unibios on the MVS board and it will allow you to switch from Arcade and Home modes.
AES and MVS carts are exactly the same. Just the cases and pinouts are different. The games inside are exactly the same, it's why you can enter 'AES mode' with the Unibios in an MVS and vice versa.
You would need to get a supergun to play other JAMMA arcade pcbs at home on a conventional TV. If you were to get this then you wouldn't need to bother consolising an MVS since it will just plug in with the JAMMA harness of the supergun.

Re: consolized MVS question
well that makes perfect sense. i just figured there would be some sort of jamma adapter for the mvs so that it would be able to play non mvs. thanks for the help!Niode wrote:It depends by non-mvs pcbs you mean.
