Yes it is.

I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, but I do believe it's overrated. =

If everyone else thinks Cowboy Bebop is a 10/10, but I think it's a 7/10, that means I enjoyed it, but I find the average consensus is overrated in comparison to my personal rating of it.

It was just a joke. I'm perfectly fine with you saying you found it overrated. We're all people here. We have differing opinions. :)

Seriously, though, if you think there's better, share. Because I actually am of the opinion that there isn't a whole lot that's better, and almost nothing that's significantly better. I also think the last 10-15 years in particular haven't been all that great for good anime.

I am of the same mindset as you. the only anime that I can think of, off hand is Attack on Titan and even that has some filler moments. A great Anime film though that I highly recommend is Macross Plus. It is a great drama and love story. Can't recommend it highly enough. Although I would say that the actual film is better than the OVA, mainly because the OVA has action sequences added that add more fan service to the Macross fans, but really detract from the drama and intrigue.

IMO Cowboy Bebop is a top-tier anime. If someone asked me what my favorite anime was, I'd probably answer with something else just because Bebop feels too obvious and wouldn't get my hardcore-taste across.

But comparing it to other top-tier anime would make it hard to really declare one better than another. I mean, if I was to Patlabor 2 and Princess Mononoke, I'd be hard-pressed to name one as being BETTER. They're both fantastic in completely different ways. Cowboy Bebop is in that tier, and essentially it's a huge tie to be "among the best."

I personally would never call Cowboy Bebop overrated... maybe it's a little unfair to other anime in how it's grossly more popular and better known than other top-tier titles, but that's not Bebop's fault!

(But seriously, I'm fine with anyone who wants to say it's overrated. After all THE TIER SYSTEM ONLY WORKS ON A PERSONAL/INDIVIDUAL LEVEL! And if you don't put it on the top, I can see why you'd think it's overrated.)

I thought about doing that, but then I figured you or anyone else would just counter with "yeah well that anime sucks". We're into pure subjective zone stuff now. If you're genuinely interested in what I consider top tier anime that's been released since 1998, I will give you some stuff to look at. But if this is just for the point of arguing "well this isn't as good as that", we're just gonna be wasting our time.

I would love to genuinely hear your thoughts of some good anime. If you feel they are better than cowboy bebop, that's fine. I would love to get back into the genre, but I can't find anything I feel is in any way good.

Let's call it a little of both and I'll try real hard to be nice (I will never insult someone's personal taste in anime, but that doesn't mean I'll necessarily spare the anime itself), though already I think our tastes are different. I'll lay it out by saying I didn't like Evangelion or LAIN. But Escaflowne and Macross Plus are right up there are the tippy top of my list.

Really there is such a large variety of anime out there and tastes is going to be a big part any anyone rating there are plenty of shows out there that just aren't for everyone. For instance I've watched shows about cross dimensional robot fighters, fighting empty soda can girls, zombie killing chainsaw wielding maid magicians, teens fighting tournament style in convenient stores for reduced priced lunches, highschoolers with parasitic alien arms, shows with every type of harem imaginable  and etc. Hell my favorite anime this season is essentially about orgasm inducing cooking and while I never expected to be into something like that I'm loving the shows energy and characters  .

There are plenty of shows that turn me off though. For instance slice of life and sports anime there are a few exceptions out there, but for the most part I can not stand those genres. They just bore the hell out of me and/or feel extremely awkward at times. I can see there being plenty of audiences for them and many of them may be very well written and animated, but I just can't stand them  .

On a side note I'm very tempted to do what I did in college again and start watching every anime on my favorite fan subbing site in alphabetical order. Really ends up giving you a lot of variety and opening you up to new things. Of course I let myself skip stuff after 2-3 episodes if I don't find it entertaining. Last time I did it I made it to around the B section but that was years ago on a pretty small site maybe got around 30 shows down and skipped 10+ ended up finding alot of series I enjoyed that I otherwise might have never watched though for instance Aa! Megami-sama(Ah my goddess), Amaenaideyo!!(Ah My Buddha  ), Angel Heart, Airblade, and a few others.
