So lately I've been on this Mega Man binge... I downloaded the entire cartoon show from a torrent site, I've played several of the games in the past week... I realize now that there are two mega man games I've never played: 7 and 8. 7 Is only on the SNES, so I probably won't get to play it for a little while, but 8 was on Saturn, Playstation, and other systems in collection discs.
I have the Gamecube Anniversary Collection, but you all probably know the reasons why I'd rather not play that version, especially since it's an unlockable rather than readily available. Instead I sat down with my Saturn, took a deep breath, and swapped discs for a little while.
I have a model 2 Saturn, so things are a bit troublesome, and I wasn't sure if I burned the disc correctly. At first I used Nights as my official disc, but then moved to Daytona USA, then I read the guide on this site where it mentions the most compatible disc (in the writer's collection) is Virtual On.
I read all the guides, spent twenty minutes and then took a ten minute break for the system to cool off. When I came back I tried Virtual On and on the first try it worked beautifully.
I have to say that the game is excellent, and I owe it to this site that I got it working. I can't wait to try other games out on my Saturn.
!!! I got the swap method working. Thanks Racketboy.

If you've got a PSX, Mega Man 8 is dirt cheap, I wouldn't wear out your Saturn using the swap trick for a game so easily available on the PSX, but up to you. Glad you got it working.

Well, I broke it, lol.
Actually, all I did was screw up my Saturn's memory when I tried to save my progress on MM8, so I broke out my backup cart and... for some reason I didn't back up my saves except for Sega Rally, Road Rash, and NFL Quarterback Club.
I'm lucky I recorded my Nights highscores on this website a few months ago or else they would have been totally lost.
Oh well, the battery was going to run out eventually anyway. I'm also not going to do the swap trick anymore because I'm worried about the stabillity of its CD drive. I think the next time I can afford it I'll buy a mod chip, and a Sega brand memory cartridge that I'm not afraid to have in the slot all the time (performance cards can corrupt your Saturn's memory much like my backup CD did to me).
That's what I get for trying to cheat the system!

Just got a hold of a Sega brand U.S. save cart on ebay for $35. It was half the price of the other U.S. cards on there because the seller was inexperinced- it was listed as "Sega Saturn Backup Cart- Can Still Save" All the other cards had the word "memory" in their names.
