Playstation Vita thread
Re: Playstation Vita thread
At least one of the images I saw the age was not questionable. This was very clearly a 6 year old.

Actually, I can't see any differences besides the North American picture seems a bit more zoomed in? I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Dungeon Travelers 2? Looks like it could be a promising dungeon crawler. I liked Demon Gaze and am hesitantly optimistic about this...
Also, anyone notice the subtle difference between the Japanese and North American cover art? Hmmmmmmmmm....................
Either way, the game looks cool, I'll have to check it out more. Vita is certainly for want of more good games, and I love me some first person dungeon crawling.
I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

The USA art is in fact zoomed in, so that the girl with the staff's pink panties aren't viewable, as they are in the Japanese version's cover art.MrEco wrote:I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here.
So this is what the stateside Vita has come down to. Discussing panty art on video game boxes. Damn you SCEA.

I know. The "wrong" games continue to be localized. We should all be balls-deep into Phantasy Star Online 2 and the new Legend of Heroes right now but we're not.

I'll import them years from now. Just like how I'm now (slowly) importing PSP games.
Re: Playstation Vita thread
It does all depend on the parent company, if they think the games is too "niche," why would they bother to spend money to translate scripts, publish the the games, and promote it?
I am concern that the major JP gaming companies will/already focus more keeping it in the black (not in red), instead of taking risks.
But as least Keiji and Iga are will to take risks on kickstarter, yet you hope that Sony would promote Vita as a viable indie platform more.

From what I'm reading, the Vita is taking the same route as the 3DO and Playdia. Due to poor sales, the new "games" are slowly devolving into pornography. That's fantastic. I want to like the Vita and the Vita TV, but I'm not that interested in playing a game about sexually compromising loli anime girls.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
These otaku-bait / nearly-porn games are as old as time, but have only recently made their way to the States.
Plenty of stuff like this was released in Japan on the Saturn, PC Engine, and PC-FX. And let's not even start on computers like the PC-88 and PC-98. The doujinshi scene was especially a treasure trove for this kind of thing.
But I agree with the sentiment. As I've said before I want more "legitimate" JRPGs done in the classic Square / Enix / Falcom / Micro Cabin style.

Re: Playstation Vita thread
The Vita has some stateside upcoming JRPGs that aren't just ecchi centric catering schlock. Off the top of my head:

There's probably more I'm forgetting. I'm still raw over not getting Phantasy Star Nova though.
There is a seachange going on in general with Japan's gaming developing a strong niche for ecchi otaku bait games though. It's not just on Vita by a long shot. As Bone said this niche has been around forever, but it really seems to be getting larger and more prominent in recent times.
