Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
Anybody else excited about the Classic Mode? That's up my alley.

I'm not sure what it actually is. I heard "classic mode" and assumed it was just some option to make the graphics look pixelated, lol.CFFJR wrote:Anybody else excited about the Classic Mode? That's up my alley.

If you read the latest update that announced it, it sounds like doing a version of Castlevania 1 for Bloodstained; six levels of mostly linear platforming.MrEco wrote:I'm not sure what it actually is. Ah, yes, what Popo said. Sorry, I should have mentioned its from an update.
In fact, here's the quote from the email.

If I hadn't already backed the game, something like this would have sold me.In Classic Mode, existing assets and screens from the game will be rearranged linearly, to reward timing and survival instead of backtracking and exploration.
IGA and company are still too early in the planning process to promise anything, but right now he's envisioning six punishing stages. In grand classic platformer fashion, you'll be weaker and the enemies will be stronger, and forget about saving yourself by grinding—no RPG elements here.
If you've always preferred your castles punishingly difficult, straightforward, and scrolling from left to right, this is the stretch goal for you.

So this is like Mighty No. 9 for Castlevania? "Classic Mode?" Man, I hope I come across some more cash in the near future.
I didn't really look closely at this, but I figured that this KickStarter wasn't the only source of funding for this game. I was thinking this would be more of a Game Child sort of scenario where the crowd funding is meant to boost the budget as opposed to being a proof of viability. So, maybe just one pat on my back?

Anyone else find it a bit odd not announcing a 3DS/New3DS version of the game? The system will be out still in two years unlike the suffering WiiU and Vita which wouldn't make much sense. The UE4 engine can scale to lower tier android devices so the room is there. Just seems wrong after all the years of Nintendo handheld support Iga got keeping his Castlevania platforming/RPG desires alive and funded from GBA through the DS.

It may be something they look at down the line. Mighty No. 9 just discovered it's not as easy to port to the 3DS as they thought meaning the 3DS game won't be able to be released simultaneously with the other versions. It might just be a case of not wanting to make too many promises right away.Tanooki wrote:Anyone else find it a bit odd not announcing a 3DS/New3DS version of the game? People are definitely going to be requesting it so I won't be surprised if it shows up as one of the next stretch goals.

I know if I funded kickstarters, that would be the moment I'd go for it. Same would have been with Mighty 09, but they decided that one after the fact I think.

I hope Iga makes this one actually challenging like he did with Ecclesia. I loved that you couldn't just waltz through that one without trying. The other metroidvanias were fun, but they were all pieces of cake in comparison. Well, except a few parts of Circle of the Moon anyway.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Anyone else notice the new basement section that appeared for the funding unlocks? 2.75 Million will get "Iga's Biggest Castle." I wonder what that means. Sounds to me like it's saying they'll make it the biggest game map of any game Iga's ever worked on? I'm not sure, but I'm excited for it, sounds cool.
