Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Ya I will definitely revisit it because, and I forgot to mention, the level design is pretty much the main attraction IMO. If nothing else I should experience those.
FYI Ex, I'm in the middle of Phoenix Wright Justice for All and in an interesting twist I'm liking a lot haha. I'm in the middle of the 3rd case, the one you hated. I like it. It's a different setting with new characters. I know you find them annoying but text only dialogue doesn't bother me. Maybe it's the HD and 3D graphics the trilogy I bought has, but I am more invested now than I was after I finished the first one. Funny how things work out.

I did not have, and do not have, a problem with text only dialogue.Snatch1414 wrote: I know you find them annoying but text only dialogue doesn't bother me.
I hated the third case because the characters are grating, the case is banal, and the entire episode dragged on for way too long. I actually enjoyed the first case of Justice For All, but that was it. The rest of the cases didn't do anything for me.
Hey if you can enjoy it, good for you. We all have our own tastes. I've been working my way through the second Professor Layton game, and I think it's pretty fun. You should check that series out sometime if you haven't yet.I am more invested now than I was after I finished the first one. Funny how things work out.

I agree, but if someone is going to be boycotted, fired, not accepted in schools/colleges...etc because of his opinion then its not really freedom of speech. You then will be afraid to express your opinion because of society's backlash. You might as well not express it.alienjesus wrote:
Freedom of speech gives you freedom to say things without the authorities censoring you or punishing you for it. It doesn't give you the right to say anything without reprisal from your peers or the general public. If it did so it would be self-defeating, because it would deny them the right to speak out against what you have said.

Yeah, I don't think you get it. If a school teacher is a proponent of pedophilia and is outspoken about it, they should be fired from their job. He has every right to say it, but he should be prepared for the ramifications of his actions. Sure societal perceptions and what is considered culturally normal derive what is right and what is wrong, but the fact of the matter is, you can say anything you want, but just be aware that you are responsible for your actions.RCBH928 wrote:I agree, but if someone is going to be boycotted, fired, not accepted in schools/colleges...etc because of his opinion then its not really freedom of speech. I gotcha. I haven't finished that case yet so maybe I'll change my mind. I just completed the part where you basically cross examine someone for a half an hour and they decide to throw out their testimony, which was incredibly annoying. It's like I was talking about before where they pad the cases unnecessarily.Exhuminator wrote:I did not have, and do not have, a problem with text only dialogue.Snatch1414 wrote: I know you find them annoying but text only dialogue doesn't bother me.

I definitely intend on getting into Professor Layton, just haven't found them for any special price

Yeah I wish Level 5 and Nintendo would do a big 3DS bundle. Layton 1-6 on one cart with Layton Brothers thrown in for good measure.Snatch1414 wrote:I definitely intend on getting into Professor Layton, just haven't found them for any special price
Too bad Layton 7 isn't getting a 3DS version. But these are the times we live in.

I love Transformed but I suck at racing games so unlocking everything is pretty much hopeless for me.noiseredux wrote:I definitely liked the first Sonic Racing better than Transformed. Didn't care much for the flying stuff in Transformed. I mean, it's a fun game. But the original is def a go-to kart racer for me along w/ Double Dash.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That line of thinking is a justification for blackmail, pure and simple. If you are being threatened with firings, public humillations or violence you do not have free speech in any meaningful sense.BogusMeatFactory wrote:He has every right to say it, but he should be prepared for the ramifications of his actions.
It's like arguing you are free to strike as long as you prepare yourself to be beaten up, c'mon.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
You're free to speak as long as you can deal with the consequences of dissenting opinion. That's the price one pays. Otherwise you could walk up in a biker bar and yell Harley Davidson bikes are for wimps and walk out without broke legs. Freedom of speech requires proper situational awareness no?Erik_Twice wrote:It's like arguing you are free to strike as long as you prepare yourself to be beaten up, c'mon.

The proper comparison would be that you're free to strike as long as you're prepared to be fired.Erik_Twice wrote:That line of thinking is a justification for blackmail, pure and simple.
