What was the last movie you've seen?

Amazon finally got it back after it was pulled for a few months. Good 1980s action here. Plus, you could also consider it a near homage to those uneven-quality kung fu films I've been watching here. I'm also not the only I'm sure to compare Jack Burton's protagonistic ways to one Ash from Army of Darkness, right? I think even Bruce Campbell could have been right at home here.

I feel like they are trying to spin a lot of plates and it is starting to show its wear and tear. They weaved in stuff from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and tied in characters that will be experienced in numerous future films for characters.
The only thing that stood out to me as being shoehorned in was the side quest and dream sequence with Thor (and there's stuff discussing this with Whedon). Yes, I have seen all the Marvel movies, but didn't feel there was anything that a general audience who are at least vaguely familiar with the mcu would get lost in. I think there is a bit of Better Call Saul syndrome with the criticisms of this movie, where references to previous material are considered flaws by the fans who pick them up, just because they are so deeply caring of all the people who may not get them, even though said references can stand on their own just fine. Every movie has smaller characters who move the plot along (such as Claw), and nobody gives a second thought to it. If the easter egg is a distraction, it's a problem (again, Thor) but outside of that, bring it on. What stuff from Agents of SHIELD was in there? I've missed 90% of this season and didn't feel lost at any point in Ultron. Plotholes or logical fallacies, sure, but lost I was not.

The entire beginning sequence in Avengers 2 was set up by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Again, I want to note that there just seemed to be a lot going on and you are right, it may be more of a detriment to the people who are actually following meticulously to the entire marvel universe as there is just a huge amount of information overload.

Yeah, Whedon's reveals on what happened with that Thor scene are pretty important. Apparently it was supposed to be much longer, but the studio cut it for time. A lot of other character info, such as with the twins, was also cut. Whedon also said he wanted to focus on the characters who were not getting movies more in this one, which is why we got so much Hawkeye and Black Widow.

And Man of Steel was on the minds of the film crew as they were filming the fight in the city at the end, mainly the criticism for it.

Also, Chris Evans' last line? They never filmed him finishing it, so the studio couldn't force them to put it in.

Agents of SHIELD might be the intro to the movie, but I don't watch the show because it's not very good and I have better things to do with my time.

Very much this.

Very much this as well.

There is no cohesion. It's just stuff, stuff, stuff, and more stuff. It's cool stuff, but cool stuff doesn't always make for a good movie. Does a movie need a plot? I'd like to think so.

With Avengers...If you'd ask me what the plot was I'd say something like:

The world is in peril and a group of superheroes who don't get a long must find a way to do just that to save the universe.

If you'd ask me what the plot of Ultron is I'd say something like:

Stuff happens with robots and the Avengers don't like each other anymore, or like each other a lot much more. I don't know. And there's a guy who is an android named Vision that looks pretty terrible. And he gets made by a magical scepter by an android and a doctor who has no real introduction. And Hulk flies a jet.

Love the love for BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA. That movie will always be incredible, will always be fun, and will always be incredibly fun. Do check out the videos from the original soundtrack. They're priceless.

Yeah, not really...

I just watched the pre-avengers episode of Shield and yes, the "we found the staff!" "okay, call in the avengers" thing was in fact in there. And in the last episode they show him meeting Patton Oswalt to see the secret helicarrier being built (presumably the one that shows up at the end of Ultron) but this is hardly setup. More like, Whedon went and wrote a movie that made perfect sense on its own (again, aside from the movie specific plotholes), then they showed it to the writers of Shield, who tried to shoehorn a bunch of references in. I'll say it again, I've yet to see anything happen on Shield that has impacted the films, it's always the other way around, even if they try and Retcon it to seem planned out.

As Whedon said "We also created a TV show called S.H.I.E.L.D. right before they made a movie where they destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D.. So everybody’s having a GREAT time!”

Ok, so yeah, you know how I gravitate toward the other side of the tracks when I see my movies outside of the theater, and if you want that kind of quality, Amazon's your place.

What can I say about Terror Squad? A user on IMDB called it "Die Hard meets The Breakfast Club" and I can't deny that's a rather fair assessment. At the beginning we're treated to a cheesy title sequence (seriously one of the worst I've seen) and the inexplicable story of Libyan terrorists invading a small town in Indiana. But right after all that, we get to see great 80s high school footage (including the resident nerd watching porn on a TRS-80, I'm not joking), and then a 20-minute car chase featuring the late Chuck Connors where the explosion count is just as high as the random body count!

So yeah, you got 90 minutes to burn? For me, that would be time well spent in a mission in GRAW
