First time I've pledged more than $100 for a Kickstarter project. This makes me so happy. A spiritual successor to one of my favorite games of all time. I wish Iga and his new studio a rich future of success. If this game does well (which all signs point to yes) there will be more Iga goodness for us in the future.

I really, really hope publishers are paying attention to this, Yooka-laylee, and all the other industry vets breaking off and making games that "nobody wants to play anymore". The industry is being strangled by marketing and out of touch execs. It's taking the fun out of mainstream gaming.

To your point, I think right now retro is actually the definition of "something new", so I welcome stuff like this. I can't take another 3rd person action/adventure game.

I don't want to get any one's hopes up but I have a pretty good feeling this kickstarter might just make it to funded.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

It squeaked by and got funded with only 32 days left. Razor thin margin there.

Some fun streaming events happening on http://swordorwhip.com/. Iga is playing a bunch of popular metroidvanias (or Igavanias I guess ;) ). Cool that he is showing respect to games inspired by his.

So is this gonna get a physical release outside of the kickstarter one?

I'm debating whether I want to jump in on the madness or not. It's an awfully long time before the product hits, and there's really no telling if it's actually going to be good. Yes, I'm really cynical these days. I'm also really, really skeptical of Mighty No. 9 right now. :( But Shovel Knight turned out amazing.

Well it's already funded and rising. 599,000 at time of posting. I don't have the money to jump on the bandwagon but I'm looking forward to this for sure.

Hey, just think about how Project Eternity worked out.
