Is Sonic Classics 3in1 a good buy?

Post by thetallguy24 »

Does it perform the same as the Sonic 1 and 2 individual carts? Or were there any shortcuts?

they're later revisions, so they actually have improvements. Like not dying on the big spikes when you have invincibility.

There's a few things to consider regarding the Sonic & Knuckles cart. You cannot use the 3-in-1 cart to play Sonic 2 & Knuckles. However, it'll let you play all the Blue Spheres levels. Sonic 1 and the 3-in-1 cart are the only two carts that'll let you play every Blue Sphere level when locked onto a S&K cart. Any other cart (besides Sonic 2 and 3 of course) will only allow you to play one Blue Sphere level.

But aside from functionality with the S&K cart, the three games on the 3-in-1 cart function exactly the same as the stand alone carts.

One small bug, Scrap Brain Zone background palette cycling.

Weird part is behavior on JPN systems was changed, the code to view Sonic 1's hidden credits has no effect. And the Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine sound test won't appear.
Lum fan.
