It actually is hard to find. You can grab it on amazon for like 70 and is being sold for roughly between $50-70 on ebay.

The reality is that amiibos have changed the perception of the Wii U I think. I feel it made the system desirable even with its games, especially if they use amiibos. It is weird and I can't really explain why that is, but the collectability of the amiibos is making people want to collect for the system.

Okay, seeing Best Buy will have a Splatoon console bundle. Has me tempted.

Depends on the bundle. The Splatoon edition "comes with everything you need to start playing right out of the box - including the games Splatoon (via included download code) and Nintendo Land (pre-installed), plus additional storage space and accessories" (source).

Past bundles have come with physical copies though.

That's kind of crazy for that game. Granted I received the game free through the Mario Kart 8 promo. It reminds me of the Pikman 2 dilemma from the Cube days.

So, these days, I've mostly been using my Wii U to play Super Smash Bros..

Today, I decided to change that, since my recent semester in College is done and over with.

Started up my Wii U Virtual Console copy of Paper Mario, since I got it for $2, thanks to owning the Wii version already.

Paper Mario is fantastic. It's a game that was truly a hidden gem for it's time, thanks to it being released late in the Nintendo 64's lifecycle. I remember owning this game as a kid, until I broke it. It was a fantastic game back then, and it's still a fantastic game to this day.

Thousand Year Dear for Gamecube is still better, though, but considering I give the first two games close to a 10/10, it's not really a fair competition.

The Paper Mario games... not bad on paper (ouch), but I couldn't really get too into them. I should give another one a shot though. I thought the same about the NSMB series, but NSMBU and the Luigi expansion were amazing.

If you do, I highly recommend starting with Thousand Year Door, as I feel it adds to what made the first Paper Mario game work, and improves it. First one isn't bad either, though.

I wouldn't start with Super Paper Mario (Wii), or Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS), however. Mainly because the gameplay style was drastically different for these (though, IMO, Super Paper Mario is still a good game; Sticker Star isn't really good, tbh).
