WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Re: WELL THIS IS INTERESTING.. Retron 5
Ok, that's odd. If the saves were sent to the system, they should have stayed there, and they're probably still on the original cartridge.

This thing is awesome. I use it more than any other system.
This thread is huge but this caught my interest big time... I could potentially finally play Seiken Densetu 3 on my TV?
I saw this in one of the latest Metal Jesus videos and it looks amazing.
Wait... these play GB games?!?!

Buy one, now. You are still a retro gamer if you do!! LOL. Seriously, the save states and patches alone are worth it. Wish the controller was better but the console is great.
Can you hook up another wireless controller to this thing?

Yes the translation and hack thing is huge as I said before, even that cool one making Castlevania 2 MMC1 and giving it a full real translation and map screen.
And yes it plays all forms of Gameboy. You can play in native aspect or make it fill the screen which can get a little blocky but still is pretty damn nice. I'm lazy with it, having a GBC now a month and not put one of those in there, just used it for GBA and it was worth it.

If you have a NES30 from 8bitdo, they are just about to release a firmware that will pair with the R5! I'm beta testing it and it works beautifully.

Good lord I had no idea about some of these features. Space for my old tube TV and setup has always been the issue keeping me from dusting out the old consoles, but something like this that I can hook up to my HDTV would be amazing. I still have most of my carts on display and maybe this would get me back into collecting more haha. Being able to use the original controllers is amazing. And I've never been huge on handhelds because of screen size and discomfort... but playing them on the TV is amazing, so this doing GB-GBA is blowing my mind.
I need one now.

Dude you are going to love it.
In addition to the original controllers you can mix and match controllers. For instance I use a NES controller for SMS games - so much better. Oh yeah - that's right you can play Master System games with the Power Base Converter.
No need to worry about dead save batteries or even save points if you're the save-stating type. But the ability to patch is the best thing of all. Time to get somma dem Bahamut Lagoon and Live-A-Live carts.

Yeah, it's great. Love mine.
The only problem is I'm going broke just buying old games.

I'm very much enjoying my Retron 5. It's nice not only to play the games on a flat screen properly (without copious modding) but to also play PAL games at 60hz and fullscreen which is a pretty big thing for me.
It's a lot cheaper to import the more sought after SNES and NES titles from Japan and patch them and generally it has reignited my interest in a couple of consoles I had kind of given up collecting for. So yeah, big thumbs up.
