Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt.

People will argue with me but of all the Sonic clones I still think this is definitely the most flagrant rip off as well as the absolute worst. It's at the same level of quality as bad unlicensed or pirate programmed games.

But, he says in the title sequence that he is awesome. How can you deny this possum's right to awesomeness?!

Gunstar's right about not thinking about it like pinball. You can also adjust your trajectory somewhat while in flight by using the D-Pad, which is both nonsensical and essential.

It might not be a bad idea to do it with a walkthrough, actually. I remember that my best friend and I could not figure out what to do in one part of Lava Powerhouse until a Sega Visions issue featured the level map and off-handedly referred to something that we hadn't even known was there (the steam valves in the emerald shafts). The objectives aren't clearly communicated. My friend and I did a lot of swapping tips and discoveries.

A walkthrough won't kill the enjoyment of this game because in this genre, knowing what you have to do is not the same as executing it.

I also didn't start loving this game until I beat it for the first time and realized it was possible to complete, which might be significant. After that it turned into one of those "beat this every year because I enjoy the thrill" kind of games -- and I know you do a lot of that, so who knows! Maybe you'll add this to your annual repertoire. :D

I agree with both sentiments. I found more enjoyment from the game when treating it like a platformer with pinball flippers. It isn't impossible, although I still haven't beaten it (I should!), but it is challenging.

Bare Knuckle 3 with a 6 button controller

Reasons:

1. I have never played it before so it'll be a fresh experience
2. It's a beat 'em up and I love those.
3. Beat 'em ups have tons of replay value. It's kind of crazy how many times I can replay one
4. If I run into someone else on that deserted island (gorgeous young lady who is the only survivor of a ship wreck), we can co op it
5. There's something funny about having one of the more uncommon, expensive Genesis titles with me on a deserted island
6. It's the Japanese version of Streets of Rage 3, which means it actually doesn't suck

The music in Sonic Spinball is quite amazing, so that is a plus.

The final level in the game is extremely brutal. The game was very enjoyable up until that point as there was always a safety to keep your ball in play. In the final level, that goes away and plays very much like a Pinball game with limited lives.

The game is very unique and an interesting diversion. However, it is incredibly difficult and frustrating for no apparent reason whatsoever. If it was just a fun and simple Pinball game, I'd enjoy it more. But to actually achieve an ending is very challenging.

My to do list of MD games is quite large and as it is a desert island scenario it would have to be a game I have always wanted to complete but have never really found the time so a few games quickly spring to mind but to choose just one..
Kid Chameleon,Alien Storm,Mazin Wars / Saga,Ghouls`n Ghosts,The Immortal,Flashback,Prince Of Persia,Robocop Vs Terminator,Chakan-The Foreverman,Empire of Steel / Steel Empire,Castlevania Bloodlines...

I would probably choose Kid Chameleon.

What's hilarious is, I used to hate Sonic Spinball for a good 9-10 years. I just didn't enjoy it.

Then, recently, I picked it up for my Genesis one day, and at first, I hated it as much as I used to, but then I tried it again, and it is easily one of my favorite Sonic spinoff titles. Maybe it's because of my odd love for Pinball I recently acquired, but it may not be.
This user really likes SEGA Saturn. Avoid at all costs.
