And if what I've been reading is accurate, the play style of both versions of the game is quite different (the Wii version requires the Wiimote, the Wii U allows for other control schemes), so it'll almost be like playing two different games. Some are even saying that the Wii version is the better of the two.

I usually try to limit buying new games at release, but considering you're getting the two separate games, and I'm not sure how long the Wii disc will be bundled with the Wii U release, it looks like Rodea might be one of those games.

Agreed. I am definitely pre-ordering this one.

Before you guys get too excited, understand that the Wii version is the same game as the Wii U and 3DS version. The only difference is the Wii version controls by aiming with the Wii Remote at solid objects and pressing the B button to have Rodea fly in parabolic arcs. Whereas the Wii U version (and presumably the Nintendo 3DS version), gameplay consists of controlling the game's protagonist, Rodea, by drawing small arcs on the console's touch screen to curve him towards his destination. You're not getting two completely different games with Wii vs Wii U, just different controls. The Wii version is arguably inferior anyway as it will have a lower resolution than the Wii U one.

I know. That's why I mentioned different 'play styles.'

Meh. I care less about low resolution and more about which one is more fun to play.

Xenoblade really picks up once you get that Monado blade with that surprise attack doesnt it? I'm getting a little more comfortable with the action look but turn based approach.

I think they did over complicate some stuff, it seems almost lucky to pull off a way to break, then topple something so you can hit it. It does seem more enjoyable now that I can do some real damage which is nice. I saved it last night at the end of that disaster and now I guess I need to transition to the next area, that or idle around and level up a bit.

Rodea looks awesome. Plus you have Yuji Naka at the helm, so it's promising. I loved Prope's releases already on Wii -- Ivy the Kiwi, Let's Tap, Fishing Resort.

I'll snag it and so should you!

I'm getting the 3DS version, because I think soaring around in the sky with the stereoscopic 3D effect going on will be great.

I put more time on Xenoblade in bed last night. I need to get back into the habit of doing that as that's how I was capable of taking down Tales of the Abyss on 3DS a couple years ago. I got up to the bionis leg. Again some of the combat in this game I think is overly complicated, but it's not bad. I really thought I was going to get mauled by that spider horde. I don't understand that 'see the future' mechanic. I ended up just throwing up a shield every time it would regenerate the option and wailing the hell out of the beast until it died and my guys got hurt. I maybe under level though, like lv13~, no idea, just haven't sat around and grinded levels at all.

Maybe someone can explain this, but what do you do with all those regenerating blue orb pick up items spread everywhere, and what about all the random parts and pieces you get from the chests killing random monsters? I've been selling off most of the junk and using it to buy better gear every time I find another shop. Just outside of the leg there was this shop dude and I was able to get my partner a better blade and both them a full nicer set of full body equipment I'm sure I'll need. I'm surprised just how beautiful the game is, yet I can see where the Wii roots are with the random texture on an object or person that's for some reason Wii AA blurry while the rest is crisp, very odd.

No one oddly made a guide for this beast of a game did they?

Cant remember the junk, you probably just sell it or use it for quests. The blue sparklies can be used for sidequests, and you also get a book which catalogues them. Get sets (like all flowers in the area or something) and you'll get equipment or jewels as a reward, and if you get all sets for an area complete you get a bigger better reward.

As for when the visions appear, that shows an attack that is going to do a ton of damage. The idea is to use the vision to block, redirect or avoid the attack. Topple the enemy, put up shields, make Reyn soak up the hit, use a move to nullify or reflect the damage - theres tons of options, although as early on as you are it might not seem as significant.
