The only thing special I can say about my alarm clock is that the numbers are huge, about 5" high. This is so I can read them at night with my glasses off. Normal alarm clocks just look like a suggestive blur of brightness without them. I have a contract with NASA where they recycle my old pairs of glasses into space telescopes.

That was funny. I almost spit my coffee.

My alarm clock is Cortana, she isn't as charming as MS might like you to think. She is reliable though.

I wish I had an alarm that would actually wake me up. I'm one of those people who hits snooze or shuts off the alarm and goes right back to sleep.

This is why my alarm clock is on the other side of the room.

That doesn't necessarily help. My roommate in high school was on the top bunk and kept his alarm clock on the desk. So when the alarm went off he had to jump down, walk to the desk, hit snooze, then jump back into bed and go back to sleep. Once or twice he did this enough that the alarm gave up.

Its on the other side of the room currently. I've tried in other rooms in the house and everything, nothing works. I have hell getting up. I don't get to sleep that easy either. My doctor said it is partially due to the fact that my internal clock isn't normal. I run from about 3pm to 6 or 7am if I do things the way my body wants to.

Good point. For those that can fall back asleep easily, simply moving the clock out of optimal smacking range probably won't help. Once I'm forced to get out of bed, however, that usually means that I'm up for good (unless I'm just completely exhausted), so for me it was a good option.

Oh, I know how you feel. My internal clock is quite similar. I'm a night owl. I can get 9+ hours of sleep, feel groggy all day, then at 10pm my brain kicks into gear and I'm WIDE awake. The same thing happens even if I don't get any sleep the night before. It can play hell on my schedule.

In that case you need an alarm clock that makes you get your blood pumping in order to turn it off. Something like...

Maybe find an alarm clock that can play Eye of the Tiger for the alarm. If that doesn't get the blood pumping you're legally dead.

I use a timer on the fan in the bedroom. I get really hot when I sleep so when 0500 rolls around and the fan turns off, Im usually up within a few minutes.
