I mostly watch World of Longplays(previously known as Cubex55) to see if a game would interest me.

Yes! That's a good pick. I highly enjoy that channel. I especially like watching footage of games I'll never own - stuff on ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, and the like.

Another "gameplay footage" channel I enjoy is zzpsddi. It's a Japanese guy I believe; he doesn't use a capture card or emulation footage. Instead he aims a camera at his TV or computer and records. It may sound odd, but it really captures what it would have been like to play games when they were released.

For instance, here's Gradius II on X68000:

Ys II on Famicom:

Game Sack can be funny, but likely not what you're looking for. They play it straight most of the time. I do very much enjoy their videos, though, and almost always learn something interesting.

Actually I LOVE Game Sack, but the problem is that I've seen like 90% of their episodes, and I can't remember which ones i haven't

So out of boredom, curiosity, and insurance purposes, I started looking at current prices for my collection. Holy crap the difference between NES and SNES prices these days. My NES collection is nearly 4x the number of games as my SNES collection, and it's less than twice the price (for ease, I'm pulling from vgpc. Not perfect, but good enough)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

I'm done "researching" game prices until I'm committed to buy a specific game. Otherwise, I find it too easy to fall into the "well I better buy it now before the price goes up!" trap.

Then again I'm not insane enough to collect a full set of NES carts.

So I started playing RE3 on the Dreamcast. This must be the least satisfying gun action I have ever seen in any game.

Also, I played this game basically just as an excuse to play the Dreamcast, but RE3 is like PSX game emulated on the DC. Kind of upset.

Yeah, this one is great because you can really see how the game is played. The players are good, they'll always beat the game, but they aren't speedrunners nor is the serious about superplays, just about showing the game. Like them a lot.
