Neo-Geo love

Post by lost_within »

Well in about a week my AES should be here. Its kinda sad that i love the old stuff more than the new stuff. I ended up trading my ps3 for a clean AES,controller, cabls, and 6 games. Anyway besides the point...i know that aes games are alot, and believe it or not im one of those nut jobs that WILL plan on collecting all of the metalslugs and paying that 300-500$ price tag. But what other games are REALLY worth getting, i know some games are just rare so they are 600$ and so on, but what games are WORTH playing. Im also considering getting an mvs adapter just to make my life a bit easier on wanting to play metalslug the way it was ment until i have an extra 500$ to just drop on ONE game.

So what do you guys think, what all should i be hunting for? Besides a nice jamma stick :D
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

it is your choice to spend that much on games
but what i am thinking is

are you not afraid that these machines and games would stop working soon, they are pretty old and they wont last forever, and when you are planning to play them, expect to increase the chances of malfunctioning

If you get the MVS->AES adaptor the look out for:

Mark of the Wolves or any Real Bout
Magical Drop 3 (one of my favs)
Metal Slug 3 (any is good, but 3 is crazy good)
King of Fighters...98 or 2002
Last Blade
Samurai 2 and 5 Special
Ninja Masters
Strikers 1945+
Windjammers

I also think a NeoGeo owner cannot be complete without Nam 75 or Magician Lord.

My big thing is that im a collector, i know ill end up spending...3000$? in the end for the metalslugs i want, but they will more than likly sit on a shelf and the mvs carts will be played which cost literally half the price sometimes even more, than an aes cart.

Look at it this way...atari games still work, if you take care of your stuff...itll last a long time. I still have some of my original gameboy games *zelda...still have it...with case, sense i was...what 10?* still they all work. To me its a price you pay to play games. I have a wii...yet i still went out and got another gamecube to play my GC games on. I just strongly believe in playing games on the systems they were made for. Also...i love the AES box art.

Also, nam75 is one of the games that is coming with it, complete.

Congratulations! Win-Win.

I would definitely suggest picking up Samurai Shodown 2 and Real Bout 2.

Wow nice haul!

My fiancée got me my 4 Slotter MVS last year for my birthday. A girl that get's you the good stuff (as in lovely lovely Neo-Geo stuff :P) is one worth keeping! You really have to use your initiative to get some of these things these days. Especially some body who has never really dabbled in the retro scene, let alone a little known (in the mainstream) 2D console/arcade system from yesteryear!
