It was probably Rambo: First Blood Part II. I'm just kidding, BTW. I have no idea what game you are looking for...Ack wrote:No, I've beaten Zork. It most definitely was not Zork.
What was the first game you remember playing?

I'm not sure what the first game I ever played was, but I can narrow it down to either Super Mario Bros., Duckhunt or Excitebike. Considering how young I was when my mom got the NES for my dad, I'm leaning towards the latter 2, since my memories of playing them (vague as they are) are far more prominent than Mario. Beyond that though, I can narrow it down no further.

Will Harvey's Zany Golf, Test Drive II: The Duel, Wheel of Fortune, California Games, all on a Apple IIGS.

Out of curiosity, did most of you have computers in your household before you had consoles, or was it the other way around?
I'd have to check with my mother, but I'm almost positive we had the NES before we bought our pre-owned Apple IIe.

We had the NES long before we ever got a computer. The computer I remember getting, because I was well into elementary school by then. The NES I remember as just always having been there.Key-Glyph wrote:Out of curiosity, did most of you have computers in your household before you had consoles, or was it the other way around?

I had an NES before a computer, but we got one once the Internet became a thing.Key-Glyph wrote:Out of curiosity, did most of you have computers in your household before you had consoles, or was it the other way around?

Ah, old modems and hogging the phone line for two days to download a shareware version of Doom. Good times.

The first thing I remember having was, I think, a Commodore 64 that used cassettes. Very vaguely remember it, maybe some UFO type game, and my dad trying to learn some basic programming. I dunno.Key-Glyph wrote:Out of curiosity, did most of you have computers in your household before you had consoles, or was it the other way around?
The one I really recall using was an Apple IIe, which was a hand-me-down from my aunt and uncle when they bought themselves their first Macintosh. Would have been like...'86, I guess?
First console we got was an NES, but that wasn't until '89 or so.

We didn't get a computer until much later, though I got to play a lot of Apple II games in elementary school.Key-Glyph wrote:Out of curiosity, did most of you have computers in your household before you had consoles, or was it the other way around?

NES was first.
My family got a computer much later. A Mac LC. Played Lemmings on it constantly.

We had the Atari 2600 a year before we got our Apple IIGS, so not very long. My brothers and I never really got into gaming hardcore until the computer was involved though. Having a text parser in adventure games blew our minds and we became absolutely obsessed from there.
