Kojima quits?
Re: Kojima quits?
I know but it's kinda sad that it seems like they want to go fully that with their games from the sounds of things, that's why I'm disgusted because it kinda means we'll never see updates to series the way we've been used to(even if some of them like yugioh and such haven't seen a proper update in years)
My gameroom
My systems: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, original gba, gba sp(001), ds lite, 3ds, vita, psp, PSone(101 model) ps2, ps3(320gb model), ps4, retron 5, and Dreamcast.

Ditto, at least Capcom, Square, Sega, etc, actually try. I think Jim nails it with Konami not giving a shit. That first game he was highlighting, I'm not even sure if I've heard of it.ZeroAX wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynl4sIFazmM
Dear god, I had no idea Konami was THAT bad. It's not a company I really follow, but it seems to be actually way worse than Sega or Square Enix.
Re: Kojima quits?
I've never heard of it at all, and I listened to that video (rare for me to bother with youtube stuff like that) in the background and even I got curious and popped it up to see what the hell he was on about. Konami doesn't give a shit, they're as far as they're stubbornly concerned comfortable. They're fine outside of the US milking the huge core fan base of football(soccer), the bemani/ddr fanboys of asia there most of them cluster, and then the MGS fan love from all over. If they really gave a huge crap about things they could do so much with the franchises going back to their 80s/90s arcade and NES/SNES games and they don't.
Dumb stuff like that is why you see many people wish a company like this would just drop dead and have their IPs sold off to the highest bidder because after coughing up that much cash they'll be damn certain to use it and well to get paid back. I would not even feel any sadness other than from the fun of the childhood if Konami, Capcom, and a few others were thrown to the wolves and their IPs spread to the wind. I think we'd see some second coming of great stuff people have forgotten about or have grown up without they'd really enjoy being brought back to life.

Re: Kojima quits?
Hopefully Kojima will find a new more supportive home after he leaves Konami behind. If you like his games or don't you have to admit he is one of video-gaming's few auteurs and it'd be a huge shame to lose him to another medium.
I kind of feel he'd have to come west though to get the backing his projects generally require. I can't think of a single Japanese publisher in the current climate who could afford to give him that level of financial backing while also leaving him mostly to his own devices. And that's a shame.

^ Square's good at overblowing projects. Give him that money and he'll actually make something good with it...

I think him doing his own thing would probably be best. Seems like he needs to be his own boss. lol
Now I'm kind of dreaming of his own potential studio and Platinum Games teaming up for stuff.

Re: Kojima quits?
I'd think he'd want to target some mixture of independent with corporate backing. I would imagine he isn't very interested being at the mercy of executives, especially considering how this is going down.
Or maybe he'll just go make movies or some crap, who knows?

I actually just got Blades of Time for like $3 brand new at K-Mart.
Guess it shows how well they did with that particular game. I remember all the crap Skullgirls' devs went through when they were with Konami.

Which is what Sload Soap was probably getting at, and personally I would say would suck. I'd rather he sticks to games.Cronozilla wrote:I'd think he'd want to target some mixture of independent with corporate backing. What's to stop him, Del Toro, and Normal teaming up again for something else? Kojima seems to have a knack for horror that hasn't been tapped yet, I'd love for him to do something there after MGSV.

I think he will still make games, as good as he is at it but it would be cool if he did do a project with Del Toro. Take what they were going with in PT and film!!Xeogred wrote:Which is what Sload Soap was probably getting at, and personally I would say would suck. PT didn't need the Silent Hill name to make its point.

I thought the same. It would be great if these two could still figure something out.TEKTORO wrote:I think he will still make games, as good as he is at it but it would be cool if he did do a project with Del Toro. Take what they were going with in PT and film!!
