Best 1v1 games on NES?

What would you consider to be your top-5 or 10 games on the NES for playing 1v1? Please don't include co-op or turn based games. I'm just talking about playing against each other simultaneously.

My top 5 would be:

Blades of Steel
RBI Baseball
Nintendo World Cup
Tecmo Bowl
Super Dodgeball

Of course, it seems most NES games that were 1v1 were sports related. What would you say were the best non-sports games that featured 1v1?

It's been a while since I last played it but Joy Mech Fight for Famicom was definitely an interesting versus game.

As a heads up the original Bomberman on NES is single player so you'll want to go for the sequel.

I was very disappointed with the NES version of this game.

I'm not going to attempt to make a top list, just name some more:

It's not worth much but Double Dragon has a versus mode.

There's also the original Super Mario Bros. battle segment in Super Mario Bros. 3.

For imports, Famicom Wars comes to mind.
