Old games/series that need to be remade/revived

YES!

I want a 2.5D HD fully 3D with volumetric fog and ragdoll physics on the office guy version of Canabalt. I still play it and it's still awesome. I want a Next-gen re-release even tho it's been downgraded to C=64 and upgraded to HD android.

I want a version of River Raid that's plays mostly like the 2600 version game play until it starts to get a bit hard (the white kamikaze planes and unforgiving terrain) and then have it allow upgrades if you collect enough fuel - an additional full tank allows homing sidewinder missiles, or a button that allows a 2 second shield, or a 5 second time slowdown (you know those awesome rapid-fire shots against the oncoming wall while you strafe).

Damn, I thought I was on a roll but almost every other franchise and series I can think of has already attempted or succeed in reviving or reinventing themselves. That's why Megaman has almost as many games as The Simpsons has seasons I guess.

Edit: Wait, is there a SHMUP with bullet-time and bullet-aiming upgrades?

Edit2: Okay I'm just completely inexperienced in Shmups aparently and shouldn't type anymore - bullet time was brought out in Astro Blaster in 1981, 7 years before River Raid even came out FFS. (found via HG101 Shmups)

I think if I could have anything, it'd be a third game in the Hotel Dusk / Last Window series. I'd prefer it to still be on DS. The series deserves to be a trilogy, and to wrap up a few loose ends with Kyle's story.

If not that, than a 3DS or Vita game in the Gargoyle's Quest series vein. Except I don't trust modern Capcom to not screw that up, so maybe not.

Not finished with Hotel Dusk yet, but is Last Window an NA release? Would be good to have the option to play it.

Last Window is worth $70 honestly. I'm not even kidding. Here's two trailers:




Last Window is the second best adventure game on DS, only being bested slightly by Hotel Dusk. Both of those games together represent the very best adventure games I've ever played on any platform. They are masterpieces of the genre.
