Random Gaming Thoughts

I don't care what anyone says, Outrun 2019 is freaking awesome.

Is there anyway to reglue the label on a ds cart back together without it looking stupid? Just realized the pokemon ranger cart I'd picked up a couple of months ago is coming off on one corner(I don't need to end up with any "mystery games" or any with semi-replaced ones...

So why is Counter Strike so popular? Every time I go on Twitch its up there. It was amazing in 2001 but I thought by now people got tired of it? I mean there are newer modern FPS, but they don't get as much love.
After few years playing I realised gaming is an addiction. Its very hard to resist, there is endless supply of it, takes hours each day from your life and it will never stop. It also goes further where you go into hours reading, watching reviews, live streams, following news, and even discussing on forums like this one.
I took a very bold decision and decided I will not continue this. I am trying to just work on my back-catalogue slowly.I am no longer in the hunt for new games. The only games I will buy are ones that I had in mind to play all along.
I might make time for extraordinary new games though
I will probably get hated for this but...Hazerd wrote:I think we need a "intervention/life crisis" for gaming sub-forum, where people can go talk about sellings their collections that are taking over their life, seeing too much of this.

This description can easily be applied to any other mass produced medium. You're basically saying consumable entertainment itself is an addiction. Perhaps it is an addiction for people who lack proper restraint over their own impulsive behavior. In that regard, video games are only a negative addiction for those without self control. That's the fault of the person, not the medium itself.RCBH928 wrote:Its very hard to resist, there is endless supply of it, takes hours each day from your life and it will never stop. Addictive personalities seek addictions, it's not the causal effect of the targeted obsession. I get so tired of people claiming video games are an addiction thus displacing the true issue.RCBH928 wrote:After few years playing I realised gaming is an addiction.

Because it is balanced, quick, and takes a high level of skill to play. Very few newer FPS's can claim that. Also, CounterStrike came out in 1999, but the one you are seeing now is CS:GO, which came out in 2012. It is very much a sequel to CS:S.RCBH928 wrote:So why is Counter Strike so popular? While I am not a fan of the hardcore CS crowd, they ruined a few lan parties for me back in the day, I do admire their desire and skill inside their sandbox.

I've had that game since I was a kid and I absolutely love it. It's not that deep, but it is way too much fun to play!

I agree. There's an excellent sense of speed. It's got the "just drive" gameplay of the original with a sci-fi coating. It's one of my favorite 16-bit driving games honestly.CFFJR wrote:I don't care what anyone says, Outrun 2019 is freaking awesome.

Yeah it's pretty good. Feels like a grunge Outrun.

The number of games I wish I had, but we can generate enough random thinking around here to get 1000 pages worth!

The trick is to be a PC gamer and have a Steam and GOG account. A dollar here, two dollars there, and before you know it you're over 1000.ExedExes wrote:1000!
