Closely followed by Aztec Adventure and Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
My Master System was second hand and the day we discovered Alex Kidd was built in to the machine was an amazing day for my cousin and I - we thought we'd found some sort of cheat to play a 'secret' game!
I remember checking every console I got after my master system to see if they played a game when you didn't put a cartridge in.

Re: What was the first game you remember playing?
My family didn't have a 2600; so, the first game I remember playing is Super Mario Bros. It pretty much blew my mind, and my grandmother purchased a NES for me shortly thereafter. (I received it for Christmas, and I loved it. The next game I received for it was Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!...followed by The Legend of Zelda. (Accordingly, there is no mystery as to why I love video games to this very day.)

Honestly never thought about this, tbh. But then again, I wasn't born in the Atari age, so that's probably why it slipped my mind. lolGunstar Green wrote:I don't think it's an uncommon one. This user really likes SEGA Saturn. Avoid at all costs.
Re: What was the first game you remember playing?
First ones I really remember playing myself were Defender and Frogger on Apple II. I'm pretty sure I played some other stuff on Commodore (I think) before that, but not that I clearly recall.

Frogger on Atari 2600. I'd just wiggle the joystock till I got run over. I found that hilarious and would get run over for hours.

Re: What was the first game you remember playing?
The first game I remember playing, I don't know what it was called. Around 1982 my parents took me to some friends of theirs house. Said friends had some sort of video game system, I'm not sure if it was a ColecoVision or Intellivision, something like that. The game consisted of the player having a catapult and tower on their side, and the computer having the same on its side. You had to fire at the computer's tower trying to knock it down before it knocked yours down, so it was an artillery game. I think it was turn based.
The first game I remember playing that I know the name of was Pac-Man, at the neighborhood laundromat, when I was an itty bitty Exhumer. That was in 1983.

I believe it was Balloon Fight on the NES at a friend's place over a bar his family owned, which led to me getting an Atari 2600 and playing games like Popeye, Qbert and Space Invaders
Eventually, I would get my own NES and become hooked on Super Mario Bros. and Double Dragon, two games that would greatly influence my tastes going forward as did Final Fantasy III on the SNES years later.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was my first arcade game in a run down, local movie theatre, further cementing an appreciation of beat 'em ups started with Double Dragon
