you joke. I was playing Killing Floor w/ Fast & Ack tonight, wondering how I ever played FPS w/ a controller. Takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. I'm a huge man.

The hate comes from a horrid laugh track at jokes that just aren't funny, clever, or witty.

The hate comes actors doing these repetitive / no range wide-eyed stares as they try to deliver deadpan comedy and then they wait and stare as that hideous laugh track overwhelms the next 7 seconds of the viewers time...as they are sitting there in awe, wondering why both the actor and the producers hammed up this "joke".

The hate comes from the above scenario playing itself out over and over for 22 minutes.

The hate comes from knowing some of your friends; people you think are funny and intelligent people admitting they like this show and then you are left questioning, maybe this person isn't as funny and intelligent as I thought. *cue 7 second boisterous laugh track and imagine me staring off to the left, not smiling, as if i'm waiting for your laughter yet acting as though i'm unsure why you'd be laughing*
I heard Gosling auditioned for a role and lost out to the guy who plays "Stewart". Are you sure you aren't harboring some ill will?

This.

It's such obnoxious, lazy, ham-fisted writing. It's just standard sitcom tropes with occasional pop-culture references tossed in

Yeah....and that right there just proves my point about how unreasonable the hate for this show is. It hits a nerve with some people for some reason and their criticisms just turn to hate filled rants rather than well reasoned arguments.

The haters really take this show too seriously.

lulz.

The problem is - it doesn't hit a nerve; the funny nerve. I assure you - I dislike all bad comedy, BBT is not special.

Just to be clear; you're saying that you'd be inclined to agree that everyone should abandon society and technology, and live free in wild nature? Is that what you are saying is the non-idiotic thing to do?
No, I am saying that every moment I spend arguing back at your snark is a waste of my precious little time on this otherwise beautiful planet. I would rather go take a hike, literally, rather than waste one more...

preach, brothers! the show also does no favors to the public perception of people who identify with nerdy interests (e.g. video games). References to the "weirdness" of knowing how to level a character in WoW, caring about Tolkien's writing, or knowing where films diverge from comic book canon isn't a bunch of winking nods to an appreciative audience...they are punchlines meant to ridicule nerd culture. The characters are basically Minkus or Urkel in a grown up form with interests in pop culture and poorer social skills.

Silicon Valley is a much much better show about nerds. It has good writing and seems to come from a place of love and understanding in how it sets up and delivers its jokes...

I think people spend too much time finding reasons to hate things versus finding reasons to like something and that is a genuine issue. We like to go to extremes and jump to conclusions, because there is a thrill in being negative about stuff. Why spend so much time and effort to hate things when there is an almost infinite number of reasons to like things instead.

Let's just get along!

There will be none of this optimism here BMF, you must hate Big Bang with the fiery intensity of a thousand suns. Simply being ambivalent towards it is not enough.

Careful not to perpetuate the stereotype that nerds hate being picked at though. Then that fiery hatred will be pointed at you, unless you're funny about it. ;)

Anyway, I agree. Let's make out...or, umm, make up. That was awkward.

Seriously though, there is more hate for BBT and that guy who died than I have ever hated anything. Except tapatalk, I really hate tapatalk. :P
