Isn't the goal to get government to do as little as possible? The more smoothly the government runs the more likely we are to see all kinds of terrible things get made into laws.

It certainly seems to be their goal.

I've become so jaded with it that I almost vote begrudgingly at this point.

If I saw someone that wants power so much I would never vote for them. It implies that they are selfish and they don't have whats best for the people in their mind, but whats the best for themselves.

If you're still not disillusioned by the whole thing, hats off to you.

I won't be truly happy until Elizabeth Warren runs. That woman is scarily with it on financial stuff.

It seems to me that in Presidential elections, the most important factor is the economy, which is kind of funny considering that the economy is one thing that the President has relatively little control over.
James Carville wrote:The economy, stupid
If the economy is improving, the current party tends to maintain control. If the economy is growing worse, vice versa.

Then, there's that old study that shows that for the past century, the tallest man has almost always won the presidency. The last race was an exception. Mitt Romney is one inch taller than Obama, but still lost. There's also the so-called "drink a beer" study that shows that voters prefer the candidate with whom they would rather drink a beer. This indicates that relate-ability and physical attractiveness may be more important than experience. If that's the case, Hillary may have an uphill battle.
