Out in the Arizona deserts, you can visit the Navajo nation and for a little bit of money some young Navajo guides will take you to a place where the world is cracked open.

It is a little daunting, but you want to climb inside the world crack because...

Strangely, there was snow in the desert in April.

A white frosted landscape.

Higher up the mountain was even more snow. The immense Dead Horse Point is buried in white fog off in the distance of the picture below, completely invisible from the lookout. It was an eerie feeling to walk to the cliff's edge and know that there was a giant hole where only white haze could be seen. I threw a snowball and listened to the unexpected silence.
