Just too many people out there, and too many guys setting up booths while their buddy does laps around the place starting at 7AM. Think I'm gonna try my idea of taking a drive and finding flea markets off the grid. If this summer is as lackluster as the last, I'll probably just go quality over quantity and buy something online ever once in awhile. Not worth the time with all these people that scoop up EVERYTHING because they don't understand profit margin + time spent does not work out with video games.
Yeah, I went to my local flea market for the first time in ages this weekend. It was a joke. The amount of video game vendors has doubled from three to six since I was last there. They were all snooping around each other's tables looking for deals for their own stalls. Yuk. It's just a small town flea market on the outskirts of farm country, not a largely populated area. I'd hate to see what the city markets are like now.

Ehh a lot better than mine which is literally "little mexico" everyone outside had like a thing here or a thing there, one guy had some power adapters and a gamecube controller, the others had either all sports or just dance. It's sad but I think that place might be dead(even went inside just for curiosity sake and didn't see the video game guys that are usually there though I didn't go as deep as I could've in there to find them...)...kinda sad really because I'm not sure there's another flea that is as close as that one is....

That actually sounds a lot more like an actual flea market though. Tables with random stuff buried under more random stuff is what I used to love about flea markets; kind of like being at one huge garage sale. The vendors I'm seeing now all seem to think they are full-scale retail operations.

I'm actually warming up to these changes though. If anything, they are giving me more reasons to simply order the games I really want online as opposed to wasting hours on end looking for deals on games I don't necessarily care about.

That's more or less what the inside of that one is like(seriously there's basically a barber shop and few other things including what almost looks like a cd store). I've only been a few times but the first 2 at least I found some things, and stuff worth toting home, now it's just kinda sad. I almost wish I lived up in charlotte instead just because I'm about as desperate to go to some of the retro stores and buy stuff at face value just because I have a hard time deciding on lots on ebay(minus the few people on here have shown me that I've bit on). Even though I did just buy this but still can't seem to win with finding decent lots that aren't overpriced for the systems I've been trying to expand on: this. Heck even my local goodwills are more miss than hit lately too...I think I've run out of luck now on finding anything close to a deal :?

Really the flea markets around here aren't to bad each has maybe 1-2 dedicated game stores inside but the outdoor area is where the action is at. It's all about timing/luck though. Really the only time I bother with the indoor game places is when I'm looking for systems or bargain bin games. The game shops tend to go in and out though so if you catch them before they close you can usually nab some good deals. Most of the shops seem to hold out for about half a year before closing up and selling their inventory in bulk to another seller who usually just opens up another stall and repeats the cycle.

Haven't been to the four fleas nearby to often this year, but will start going again once I get a steady pay check.

I'm in one of those areas where Goodwill is basically a waste of time and they're either not getting stuff or it's all being filtered to the auction site. A buddy of mine likes to troll Amazon for reasonably priced stuff from random sellers. Nothing exceptional just collection filler. Seems to enjoy/be happy with that process.

The more I think about it the more I think I'll be ignoring the fleas this summer and just taking a drive out with the girlfriend to find some unadvertised sales (or at least ones no one will bother with). The prospect of finding a neighborhood yard sale on a random weekend that no one bothered to put on Craigslist sounds 100x better than leaving the flea with $10 spent for no reason than to justify going.

You can still get deals there. Go early in the day during the summer and stick to the yard sale booths. (And, even if you dont' find anything, you should pick up some tacos from one of the ood trucks. They are universally excellent.)

^and if those trucks have a drink called "Horchata" (pronounced how it looks) then try it. It's rice water with cinnamon and crushed almond, and it is SO good.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

Then I must've just had a really off day then saturday because I went that morning right after i got off work and all I got from there was a semi-decent leg workout. Guess I'll just try again next month, I seem to be having more luck with ebay at the moment finding stuff i think is worth it XD

It's too early in the season. Go back in June or July.
