What was the last movie you've seen?

we did Dark Forces a few years ago. But yeah, we should do another Star Wars month. Agreed. KOTOR maybe?

I did love going after the starships though.

What made it really complicated was there were so many cards that did a bunch of one-of effects. But the very basic core wasn't too bad.

You laid out locations with the icons oriented so the red ones were facing the dark side player and the blue ones were facing the light side player. You started the game with each player choosing one, and then on their turns they could play out additional ones. If you play out a location that already exists then you replace the existing one (the advantage is that the one in your deck probably provides more icons for your side).

At the start of your turn you counted up the number of your icons among all the locations, added one, and then moved that many cards from the top of your deck to a pile on the side. This is your force pile and it represents your resources. The cards there can stay there between turns. When you expend those resources they move to a pile in front or your deck; this is the used pile. At the end of your turn your used pile moves to the bottom of your deck. Certain other cards move to the used pile during the course of play and will get recycled in the same manner.

The goal of the game is to remove all the cards from your opponents total deck, which consists of the main deck plus force pile plus used pile. This was mainly accomplished through two methods. The first was force draining; when you have dudes at a location and your opponent doesn't have dudes there you can deal damage to your opponent equal to the number of his icons on that location (so something that gives you a lot of resources can be used to hurt you a lot by your opponent). The second was the combat; the basic resolution was the sum of your power vs. the sum of your opponent's power and the loser took damage equal to the distance.

Then there's a whole ton of complicated side rules.

Nah, what made it complicated was finding a light side player. There weren't any around where I grew up.

I forced my brother to play light side. Then I got a bunch of Star Destroyers and kept him out of space.

I see we played the same way.

Fun little nostalgia trip, plus a neat soundtrack.

Headlining is Louis CK. Kevin Hart as animated pets. Sure is something to be excited about!
