No harm in that. For what it's worth, Tomb Raider: Legend (by the same developer and publisher) was a very fun game. They just dropped the ball here big time.

I've got the Wii version also, because it and the PS2 version are a different game than the 360/PS3/PC version. Level designs and puzzle designs for example are constructed totally differently. Funny thing is the Wii/PS2 version is probably the better game for it.

I got a little more enjoyment out of it than that, but then, I like these types of action-adventure games, even at what most would consider a lower quality bar.

Totally agreed that the controls are janky as all get-outs.

I didn't realize that the Wii/PS2 versions were significantly different... sounds like I might need to track it down!

Well, I do too. The good ones anyway. I think we agree on a few other 3D action-adventure-platformer games being actually quality endeavors. Such as a little ol' obscure title called Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for example.

Dropped another game today...

Rolan's Curse on Game Boy. It's got decent graphics but it's a bit too simplistic for its own good. I was okay with it though, until I beat the first boss and then the game reset all my stats for the second area. Hey now, I worked hard for those stats! I'm not okay with a game just throwing away my level increases like it's nothing. Dawn of Mana did that too, and it was part of why I dropped that game as well.

Rolan's Curse has been one I've been meaning to check out for some time.

I'm sure it's not stellar but I'm a sucker for old ARPGs and Zelda-ish games.

Here's a nice list of that old stuff:

Supposedly Rolan's Curse can be beat in under two hours, it's not a hard game. The sequel looks more appealing though.

That link was pretty nice, reminded me of a few games I haven't tried yet.

Great link. It reminded me of just how many games I need to play in one of my favorite genres. (I really, really need to take a shot at Legacy of Kain sometime...Do you think it would qualify as a "classic" for the summer gaming challenge?)

If you're talking about Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, I think it does. It's from 1996 so it's old enough, it garnered a lot of critical praise, and it spawned a large franchise of games thus it's important enough. Sounds like a classic to me.

That's what I'm talking about, and that's all the vaildation I need! (Howlongtobeat says 10-12 hours. I think I can handle that.)

EDIT: The only question is whether I want to play it on my PS3 or upload it to my PSP....

I need to get through Blood Omen myself someday. It looks great.

And I think I've finally reached a point where I prefer action-RPGs to turn-based ones.

That's just reminded me of two games I need to play at some point. Legacy of Kain is one, Rolan's Curse 2 the other. I own the former, emulated the latter quite a bit back in the day.

I also need to add Battle of Olympus to my pile. Definitely one I've always wanted to finish.
