I indulge in modern versions of these genres. I will let him beat me for a little bit and then firebomb the smirk off his face.

No, you crush him from the get-go, remove all hope from him.

How about a handicap then? Not a big one, but if you do play an FPS, you must melee kill him at least once, but go for as many times as possible. The handicap is that every time you do it, you must make a bad pun, like "Knife to see you," or "Shanks for that."

Quick story. My husband's pretty good at fighting games and played a bit of multiplayer for one of the recent Soul Caliburs. He was chaining wins one night when he got a voice message from a random player that went something like this:

"Hey man, you're pretty good and all, but just letting you know that the only reason you won our match was because my controller disconnected, so yeah man, good game, but you didn't actually win or anything, because my controller stopped working, but yeah, good game, but you didn't win. Just sayin'."

We laughed pretty hard at this. It made up for all the players who would ragequit matches to keep my husband's win from registering and fouling up their stats.

PCs suck so much.
I seriously can't understand why Blu-Rays didn't take off on PC like they did on consoles. I used to think that PC was just lagging behind consoles the way they did until 2005 or so with DVDs, but it seems that no one is ever going to start shipping PC games on Blu-Ray.

Heck, I had a hard time finding even a good Blu-Ray playback program for my PC.

So you're saying to chainsaw his ass in half via some Gears of War versus. I'll spare the tea baggin' though because he's a minor and stuff.

In college I knew tournament players who would throw a fit if you beat them. I remember beating a buddy who was big in the local Soul Calibur 2 scene, and I pretty much wiped the floor with him. All he did for the next hour was complain about his controller and refuse a rematch.

Yes, but then you have to shout things like, "Saw good, son!"

He must have been playing against my freshman year roommate. Whenever he lost a match in Soul Calibur (on the Dreamcast...because I am both ancient and awesome), he would very loudly proclaim that his controller was malfunctioning. (He was a button-masher and would play as Seung Mina. This strategy worked well when we were all learning the game, but when I actually learned to play as Astaroth and Mitsurugi, his winning streak came to an abrupt end. )

Well, I mean, it's not like you really won or anything, so. Just sayin'.
