Sure the amazing good fortune out there people ignore it make the system unlike other Nintendo cart systems very approachable, it also is the hardware limits that give the GB and GBC their charm. For what they did pull off on those two versions of the Gameboy it is kind of amazing. Sure there were a lot of so-so and poor games, but sometimes you saw these real strokes of genius in working with a no or low color palette and still pulling off incredible detail. Super Mario Land 2 Mario is that SNES sprite, the detail on Gargoyle's Quest seems insane, the Mega Man games capture the NES well without a feel of loss. The system could only put so much on screen before it had the same issues the NES did, yet in many ways it could match what that old thing could do.
Yet I think some would really agree due to the immense amount of years with people working with the limitations of the GB hardware, some took what they knew, then used the extra room and really knocked it out of the park on the GBC. They tend to fly under the radar, but check out both Dragon's Lair, and Warlocked. DL is a copy of the laserdisc, not that terrible platformer from years earlier and has nearly every single move of the arcade game. Warlocked = Warcraft 1 with wizards, full blown large party RTS game that talks, lots of sprites, good use of color, many varied units. Then you have others that went nuts with video like the CGI usage in Cannon Fodder.

Yeah Dragon's Lair is insane. The first time I saw it I never expected it to be the arcade game but they gave it their best and the results are kinda decent.
Never heard of Warlocked. That's one I need to check out.

Crazy thing is Warlocked was published by Nintendo. So it's really weird how obscure it turned out to be.

Also...Mole Mania...Shigeru Miyamoto developed it...Nintendo published it...it is exceptional...and almost no one cares about it anymore.

Mole Mania is excellent. It's up there with Donkey Kong '94 as one of my favorite Game Boy games.

Mole Mania was a solid game and made no sense it ended up going up under the bus as far as interest goes. And you're right Warlocked was published by Nintendo, developed by 8bits, and forgotten to the 8bit generation sadly which is a crime as it really is as I said -- warcraft 1 with wizards.
I ended up finding Mario Golf for $4 today, and then between the two for $10 Cannon Fodder and Radar Mission. They happened to be on my short list of desk toy fun.
Dragon's Lair I'll get as much as I find it infuriating because I never can remember the moves because it's so so cheap as no one realizes it's not junk. I'm going to snap up a Super Mario Land 1 cart, not even sure I'll get #2 because 1 is fun and short and infinitely replayable. I'd probably snap that first Double Dragon up just to have one like that, and it's far more fun and closer to the arcade than the NES release.
Konami GB Collection UK(GBC) releases, I hate to admit it, but I'll likely buy those again, or trade for them. It's not even so much the US releases, I have a thing for Goemon, Parodius, and Twinbee and loved the GB conversions, even Guttang Gottong is fun. Those I'd pay a little more for since they're packs of 4 pieces of awesome on 1 cart, but normal US stuff I'm sticking to the at or under $10 stuff pretty much as this is just a fun desktoy distraction for me.

I blame it on the fact it was based on moles. If it had been Ferret Fever or Badger Bonkers or Gopher Gonzo, maybe something would have happened. Well got the urge from this thread and stopped at a store to go through their little box of GameBoy and GB Color games. Don't think there was much in the way of hidden gems or oddities (lot of Disney and Tony Hawk type stuff), but I got:

Almost everything was either $2.50 or $5, so I wasn't taking too many chances. Seems like most GB games aren't even worth $5.
