Re: Shuddering picture on Sony Trinitron
I took some video of it and edited it but I am having trouble uploading it. what file type should I be uploading in, I am using Adobe premier 11 if that helps. Also could WiFi interfere with it should I unplug my wireless when diagnosing the problem?

I shudder at Fragem's suggestion! Though that would run the Degauss again,
DO NOT POWER OFF THE TV THEN POWER RIGHT BACK ON AGAIN!
As mentioned, the Sony last generation series of Tube TVs (as well as other brands including LCD and Plasma) have a known power detection chip (sometimes weak slow blow fuse) issue. Cycling the power is a sure way of killing the already fragile chips! The replacement revised chips are an inexpensive fix, but tricky unless you are proficient with a solder iron.

Agree, Post a screenshot (not more the 725 pixels wide for an easy view in the Forum), I suspect the problem with your Trinitron is the pair of power detection chips on the D board which could be starting to fail.Fragems wrote:I have had very weird experiences with my Trinitrons both are kind of touchy at the moment. I sometimes get the shaky screens with occasional rolling lines, and I have one that comes on really bright when you power it on. The usual fix for both is just turning them on, then off after a 5-10 seconds, and then back on again that usually fixes it. The older one in my room also seems to build up a static charge that can cause some slight interference sometimes so I occasionally have to run my hand across the screen to discharge some of it.
If you can take some pictures of the screen when it's having the issue.

If there is any way could send a video that would be best. the shaking is not noticeable with a picture. Also I thought the D chip failing was only when the tv did not turn on and gave you the 6-7 blinks on the standby light. (sorry about the multiple posts don't know what I was thinking)

Actually I do mean do not turn it on again the VERY SAME DAYFragems wrote:Yeah typo on my partCRTGAMER wrote:I shudder at Fragem's suggestion! Though that would run the Degauss again,

No kidding, the capacitors and Flyback hold a charge for probably a month. At least letting the components cool all the way down might be more easy on the defective chips to cut down on the surge. I NEVER use my TV remote to power on a TV due to risk of double signal. Power ONLY once at the TV console button and wait patiently for the red light to cycle, Degauss Pop and then CRT kicks on. Maybe over precaution, but I want my rare HD CRT to outlive me. Yes, there have been Sony chips blown due to the double power on mode of that damn remote.
@ juststuff - The MZC3001D Chips (Revised are MZC3001DB) continually monitor the amps going thru the D board (two of them mounted) and will shut down the TV at sporadic times as the chips start to fail. First indicator usually is similar to what you are describing. However, it could also be many of other components. The Chip replacement is the cheapest route and usually solves the problem, but it is a tricky desolder/solder job.
Take as look at my links posted earlier to get an idea what is involved in the repair. There is also info such as the hair dryer trick which is only a temporary solution. I would not do the chip change until absolutely necessary, but at least have the chips and sockets ordered and on hand. I keep four extra MZC3001DB chips in case they fail again, the socket installation mod makes swapping chips a breeze.

Is this a Sony exclusive problem with Trinitrons?CRTGAMER wrote:there have been Sony chips blown due to the double power on mode of that damn remote.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Shuddering picture on Sony Trinitron
Well I have been using the tv for the past two days for a total of about 7 hours and there has been no issues whatsoever it seems as if it has corrected itself
Thanks for the advice I will try the replacing the chips on the D board if is acts up again. Also I agree about the remote it should have a delay for when it can be turned on again because it can be so easy to activate it twice in a row (my plasma Panasonic downstairs has this delay)
