There are some references to the previous games, but it's not necessary to play them (although they are superb games). Enjoy!Gunstar Green wrote: I got Bioshock Infinite free off of X-Box Live but I've never played the earlier games. I'll try it out anyway once I'm through Wolfenstein.

I agree with this sentiment for the most part. In some ways, I do really miss the days when it truly mattered which console you had.RCBH928 wrote:I read once on a retro-PC website, the author said computers back then were different form computers now. Computers back then had personality.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Things were like that during the 7th generation, and arguably the 6th as well.Flake wrote:The games on offer for the PS4 and XboxOne seem practically identical to me.
Going back further, I love how distinct the N64, PlayStation, and Saturn were from each other. Same goes for the SNES, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16. Or the NES, SMS, Atari 7800. And so on...
I could have not said it any better. Playing a Saturn or an N64 was seriously a different experience, its a whole different brand. The controllers, the media type, shape, color, game genres, and graphics were a distinct experience.
On the other hand, there is something to be said for being able to play 99% of the best games of a generation regardless of console of choice (Nintendo excluded, obviously). Now if only they would actually MAKE some great games for this console generation....
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

an interesting article that talks about slowly exploring open world racing games. I've talked in the past about playing The Crew on my own terms, and have actually done similar runs where instead of "racing" I would try to stick to speed limits and obey all traffic laws.

I've been around enough MA drivers to know that this would be a truly fantastical experience for you.noiseredux wrote:I would try to stick to speed limits and obey all traffic laws.

The only place in the world that has anything on Boston when it comes to driving is Russia.

I'm surprised at others experiences here, but I guess if you're just getting into the 360 then yeah, there's a lot.BogusMeatFactory wrote:I can never get into the Xbox 360, because of history and frustration. I owned two different Xbox 360's in my life, one of which would red ring every 6-8 hours, even when repaired by Microsoft. The second had a similar situation, just less frequently and was victim to numerous laser failures. I just gave up. Not that the games are bad for the system, but I have the worst luck and I just gave up on it. It is sitting in my closet and probably will never be played, as I just gave up on getting it fixed when I would have to send it out more than 10 times to be repaired, to the point where it's warranty eventually ended.
For me though I was onboard when it was new and got through a lot. Had a big AAA phase. I had a PS3 for probably 2-3 years before it finally "clicked" and then I just simply have never once looked back. Didn't see the point when I could access online services for free on the PS3, it basically had every single game the 360 offered but on one disc instead, the interface didn't change every few months and throw ads in my face, and now the exclusives are stacked. To me, it's clear as day that the PS3 is the victor for last gen. A lot of its early exclusives have even aged pretty well too.
I can see how the 360 is still going strong though. It had a strong start. It was basically last gen's PS2. But yeah, Sony has come through and won me over in the end with every single gen previously, so I finally realized it would be smart to go with the PS4 first and I don't regret it. Sure, it's still not a lot, but some exclusives are finally trickling in this year and I can get the superior versions of cross gen releases.
For me:
PSX > N64
PS2 > Gamecube (least favorite Nintendo console) and Xbox, DC too I guess
PS3 > 360

More games should have photography and videography features with the ability to turn off damages, control weather, turn off the HUD, tweak graphics options, etc. Since game photos are shared online, it would help word of mouth advertising and give people like me the ability to easily explore game worlds and photograph them. I love playing games, but I also enjoy exploring worlds, and sometimes the game gets in the way of that.noiseredux wrote:http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/04 ... ore-281095

Saw a soda display outside a grocery story and made me smile. Not because of the sports motif, but (though in higher resolution) it reminded me of Atari 2600 pixels.

The grocery store by me has done that but it was a Mario head. Really classed the place up.
