The fact that you have to do that is indicative of a root structuring problem.

But I'll cease my childish logic.

Maybe I am not following, but you want the entire forums to be one forum, instead of broken down by broad topic?

I would like to see all gaming discussion on one board, and all non-gaming related discussion on a different board. Two boards forming one forum (that has a proper search function) is all you need IMO.

Uh, I don't think there are many game-related forums ANYWHERE that do this. No good ones, anyway.

Unpopular idea ≠ inappropriate idea.

Not an objective qualifier.

Ew. Sexual innuendos are far from my job. That's the majority of the racketeers job who tell dick and fart jokes.

My job is to make obligatory references that rarely make sense. That, and to have sexy time and report of said sexy time.

Some thoughts:
Requiring someone to search for a topic entirely eliminates the possibility of discovering something that person was unaware of. That would yield even less diversity in active topics than there is now.

Furthermore, to make a pool of broad topics work there'd need to be some actual way of aggregate promotion of topics. Otherwise, mere activity of any kind would suppress otherwise active discussions. That's not something that would happen in a place that utilizes pre-packaged suites. It's not a simple thing to translate to, either.
