Best Dreamcast Controller to Get

Post by Beak »

So, I have an Agetec Arcade Stick, two standard Dreamcast controllers, and an Astropad. The Astropad is crap, in my opnion: it's huge and clunky (but surprisingly light, which is bad, because it feels like I'm holding a hollow malformed piece of plastic); oh, and its joystick is broken.

The Agetec stick is good for arcade-style games, obviously; no complaints there.

The regular Dreamcast controllers are all fine and dandy, but the joystick really really wears on me (namely, my thumb), especially on games like Jet Grind Radio and Sonic Adventure.

Are there controllers that would be better, in your opinion? The Mad Catz' Dream Pad looks alright, is that any good?

I just don't know how I feel about 3rd party stuff, usually. I've honestly never had a 3rd party controller (on other systems) that hasn't broken at some point (while the originals kept on chuggin' on).

Any suggestions?

I think the official DC controller is the best as far as standard DC controllers go.

You could always get a Total Control Plus...

that seems like a good option for me, im not fortunate enough to have a DC stick so playing third strike with DCs dpad makes my thumb hurt, playing with a PS pad would be nice unless i find a cheap fighting stick

I like using the PS2 to DC adaptor. I also like the official Sega one as well.

If you can find one on ebay for under 50 like i did, I'd recommend the ascii pad ft. it's an outstanding controller. (oh and did you get your package yet?)

Via another DC controller plugged in simultaneously, I assume.
