I loooove me some Game Boy.

GB and GBA hardware and games are the only Nintendo things I still regularly find at garage sales. And it's always dirt cheap.

People seem to get all horny at the sight of an NES but will walk right past the great GB stuff. Fine with me. I'll take that GBA SP and bag of mixed games for $5, thank you very much.

I was just watching Ashens' Game Boy Extravaganza 2 where he looks at several ridiculous accessories that came out for the original DMG.

My favorite is the "Booster Boy."

Holy shit what a monstrous contraption:

That looks amazing.

I love all Nintendo handhelds. Even the Game & Watch, Virtual Boy, and e-Reader.

Contemplating what to play on Game Boy next. Maybe I'll pick up Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (finally).

I love handhelds and handheld threads! The portability is great even for playing at home and I find that, as a married man, I get more game time in with handhelds than I would otherwise.

I think a big part of the reason you don't see much hullabaloo about the retro handheld scene is that many retro handhelds are basically unplayable by anyone over 25. I'm only 33 but even under a good light I feel like I just can't SEE the screen on my old gray brick. I really (REALLY) want a back light modded GBC...

Meanwhile the GameGear and Lynx were often really blurry and are just plain hard to look at these days.

Emulation is really great when it comes to those old handheld games. My only complaint is that some of the music on the GBA games seems REALLY grating in Virtual Boy.

I do love my 3DS and Vita though and they get more play time than any other system I own except maybe my PC.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Want: Games!!!

Thanks to you lot Ive been making a list of Gameboy games I need to pickup. Sadly in the past I got rid of large chunks of them because of the bigger and better. But you can store so many in such a small area, and they play fine on my Gameboy Players, it just makes sense. Tail Gator, Felix, and the Megamans are going to be painful.

I do want a raspberry pi or beaglebone based handheld though. Something in a Gameboy or GBASP shell would be perfect.

If you don't mind getting the imports I suggest going for the Rockman World copies of the Mega Man games. They're a lot cheaper.

We should probably do a top 25 Game Boy game list. All these years later I'm still playing GB games I missed for the first time (let alone GBC ones). It'd be nice to know about any gems we haven't played yet. Especially stuff more off the beaten path.
