johnvosh wrote:Hello. New to the site and figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Johnathan and I currently live in Spruce Grove, AB. I have around 550 games and many different systems. I mainly collect the consoles but do have a couple handhelds. I have a nice little Zelda collection and have approx 9 games left to add to it.

Hello and welcome to the forums good sir! Out of all the systems you have, which one seems to have the largest amount of games? I am a huge fan of the Dreamcast and would say that it has the largest number of games, but my Saturn collection is the one that has the highest quality. It is pretty beefy in number, but has all the big name... and big cost american titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force, Magic Knight Rayearth, Saturn Bomberman etc. Luckily, they were purchased when the saturn was on its way out, so we got them at cost if not on clearance.

I see you are a big zelda fan? Excellent! What games are missing on your list? My wife has a goal to play and complete every Zelda title, but she has the problem of getting to the very end and never finishing them. What a slacker!

Any particular Zelda game that you consider your favorite? For me it is absolutely Majora's Mask. I find the atmosphere, themes and cast of characters to be incredibly memorable and the world itself stands out as being dark, strange and slightly alien in nature. It really handles the Zelda franchise in a different way that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Anywho....welcome! It is great to have you here!

Welcome aboard Dave #2 (sorry...another Dave came before you). It is a pleasure to have you! Good to have another pop culture aficionado to add to our ranks! You say you are a big fan of Community, but what films and games are you into? Any particular titles in both categories stand out to you as being influential and important to you as a fan?

For films, I am into the very broad spectrum of films that range from documentaries like, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, The King of Kongs: For a Fistful of Quarters and Jesus Camp, as well as action films like: The Good, the Bad and the Weird and Indiana Jones Films and even the strange dark comedies like, In Bruges, Super and Special.

As for games, I love two types of games, the simple, self-indulgent action game that is light on plot and heavy on fast-paced action or the slow paced, atmospheric adventure game/interactive fiction that is incredibly story oriented.

Anywho, welcome aboard and it is a pleasure to have you!

Right now I would have to say it is a tie between my Genesis and my NES. Most of my NES games are loose but I have do have over a dozen in boxes. All of my Genesis games are in boxes except for 4. I basically won't buy the Genesis games without the box.

As for Zelda, I haven't actually played any of them yet. I am always so busy that I just don't have much time. I never had any Zelda games growing up so I figured I get them all and then play them. For the games I am missing.... Link's Awakening (Gameboy), Link's Awakening DX (GB Colour), Four Swords Adventures (Gamecube), Ocarina of Time MasterQuest (Gamecube), Classic NES Series: The Legend of Zelda (GBA), The Minish Cap (GBA), Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks (DS), Majora's Mask 3d (3DS).

In a couple days I will try and get a couple pics up of my collection! Just have to finish doing some rearranging.

Well we'd be here all day if I named all of my favorite things, but I'll name a few things per category.

Favorite movies; Shaun of the Dead, Oldboy, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Taxi Driver, and many more.
Favorite Shows; Community, Flight of the Conchords, Breaking Bad, The Office, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny, etc.
Favorite music; Flight of the Conchords, Jeff Buckley, Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Childish Gambino, Cocteau Twins, Aclest, and much more.
Video Games; Super Mario Bros, 1,2,3, World, 64 and so on. Also Red Dead Redemption, GTA 3, VC and SA. Also Call of Duty 4.

Anyways, that's just some of what I'm into. :) And thanks for the welcome!

Well, I'm not new by any means, but it's been nearly four years since I last posted here (until today of course)

Collecting for me took a backseat to actually playing the games, I was 16 at the time, had a girlfriend and I'm sure many of you know that meant gaming took a backseat. But then I found myself dropping out of school to take care of my family, more specifically my then newborn baby brother. He'll be 3 in July, and I'm just now, at the age of 20, finally starting to get on my feet with where I want to be in my life. I have a job (okay, it's Wendy's, but it's a start) and I'm in school again pursuing an AA degree. For a long time, gaming wasn't on my mind and it felt like I had lost that passion, but every once in a while a super addicting game pulls me right back into where I remember feeling most comfortable.

I came back, mainly because a buddy of mine from High School have started dumpster diving at local game stores and have come across some pretty neat finds, and I wanted to share those with some of y'all. It's appalling to me just how much good things get thrown out that just need a little bit of TLC. It's a fun little hobby, and is a good backstop until I can get my game room built back up again (we moved to accommodate the little one) and get it just the way I like it.

I don't know how active I'll be, and I know I certainly won't be spending money like water like last time  but I hope to be active in discussions and reignite my passion for something that I once thought was lost.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)

No need for a disclaimer on the job, at least you're working and going to school. No shame in that.

I don't think I would dumpster dive personally, but I'll bite...show us some cool stuff you found in the trash.

I'm in FL too, are you central, south, panhandle, or east coast?
