As a common courtesy because I linked to it as a way of engaging you in conversation on a topic of mutual interest.

Because they were just about the first result that came up when I Google'd what you asked us to earlier. And, again, it is a reasonably well written explanation of the biology/math of viewing 4K.

You know by now that even if I come off as a poopy-head, I still like ya. And I say that because of this:

Anyone who uses the phrase "common courtesy" is a passive aggressive twat. Courtesy, by definition, is required, therefor never common. The phrase reminds me of Ssgt Loyce's rant about not giving a reach around, as it should be common courtesy when getting a penis in your butthole.

And 4k isn't really a topic of my interest. People marketing bullshit to people who will pay for it...well that's interesting. So is the fact that people have no clue what 1080p actually means. That's interesting. But debating about what has already been proven (no one sits one inch away from their tv) is not in my interest.

Speaking of being an insufferable twat, here's some more evidence to knock off your self-assuredness about the "facts" of 4K TV:

Do you see that range of a 50-60" screen that's 5-6 feet away? That's a range where the benefit of 4K is discernible, and it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that I'd be shopping for a 70" TV that I sit 5-6" away from..

With all that I'm out. Dave's situation is exactly the type of thing I was talking about when I said for a few people there are tangible benefits though.

Insufferable twat is a phrase I never fully understood, STD ir something? Anyway, its a bit strong for tv talk maybe. Or not, do you. :P

With a prescription cream, most cases of insufferable twat can be cleared up in just 14 days.

Certain rare, but serious side effects can occur.

Christ dude. At least try.

In all honesty, that graph did make my day.

"Benefit starts to become noticeable". That phrase alone makes me lol. Add that to a graph and you have comedy silver.

Seriously, did you make that graph as a joke or did you really post that as some sort of proof? You're trolling me dave.

Well, I just stated emphatically with no proof at all, same as you. Call it a stalemate?

The chart was linked from a TechRadar article. I am not sure why you think long running consumer-focused websites about technology are a bad place to cull information about consumer technology, but whatever. Their editorial policy on reviews seems fine:
We do not take payment for product reviews. Ever.
We select products for review based on what we believe our readers would want to know.
We'll tell you what we think, not what advertisers want you to hear.
We say it as we see it. Our expert reviewers love technology and want you to love it too. If it's garbage, we'll warn you off.
If gear doesn't meet our high standards, we'll tell you why.
So, maybe be Mr. Skeptical about all that, I dunno. If you have some kind of stronger or higher quality source that disproves the science and math reflected in the essays I linked about at what sizes and from what distances 4K is noticeable, please share with the class.
